Mars - Jupiter Conjunction
I've shot these planets on every one of the last 11 days that had clear enough skies. This footage assembles four of the last six days to show the approach and pass of the two planets.
Captured from Topaz Lake on the California - Nevada border.

Light Rays in Yosemite Ground Fog
There were controlled burns in Yosemite on this morning, as well as some campfires and morning ground fog, so the air often picked up a little sunlight, rendering a painting-like quality to many of the scenes.

Thank you +Yosemite Conservancy for sharing my photo on your Instagram and Facebook social media accounts!

Eastern Sierra Fall Colors Peaking Now in Mono County
The small front coming through the area on Thursday might be weak enough to allow the colorful leaves to continue through the weekend. More photos:

See and photograph the nearly-full moon rising at sunset tonight. Then tomorrow before dawn, Venus and Mars will be within 1/4 degree of each other. More details:

May Photography in Yosemite
I've expanded my blog post on from May 2014 to show more of the opportunities available next week in Yosemite:
http://www.jeffsullivanphotography.com/blog/2014/05/14/yosemites-lunar-rainbow-moonbows-weak-this-year/

It looks like next week in Yosemite could provide the "perfect storm" for rainbows in Yosemite! And when there's no light rain to project the rainbow colors back at us, I know when Bridalveil Fall at least is likely to produce a rainbow.

Monday - A 40 percent chance of showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 56. North northeast wind 5 to 10 mph becoming light and variable in the morning.
Monday Night - A 30 percent chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 36. West wind around 5 mph becoming north northeast in the evening.
Tuesday - A 40 percent chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 60. North wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the morning.
Tuesday Night - A 40 percent chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 39. West northwest wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening.
Wednesday - A 40 percent chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 59. Calm wind becoming south southwest around 5 mph in the afternoon.

If you can't join us this week, here are more opportunities to shoot with me in Yosemite: http://www.jeffsullivanphotography.com/blog/yosemite-national-park-photography-workshops/

Yosemite's Lunar Rainbow "Moonbows" Weak This Year
I was hoping to replace some my old moonbow photos with ones taken on my newest camera, but it's looking like we're going to have to wait another year for a strong snowpack the healthy Spring runoff and waterfall mist which sends the light of the moon back at us in rainbow colors.  I've updated this old blog post to contain more information on pursuing moonbows in case you'd like to try anyway: http://activesole.blogspot.com/2008/05/chasing-moonbow-in-yosemite-valley-at.html

+Lori Hibbett and I were fortunate to find a campsite open, and we know some places where we should find some nice things to shoot.  Midweek and outside of the busy summer season, Yosemite is still a spectacular place to spend a few days in the Spring.
