Great article by Krishna Bharat, the Google News Founder on the future of news industry.

“The news business has gone from monopoly to attention deficit,” Bharat said. As a result, media companies must become change machines. To get there, they must hire “restless agents of change” and assemble them in teams made up of journalists, technology and design professionals who are part of the same conversation, every day.

Wow, thanks Katrina!
Today's Profile: +Dale Zak

Ok, since we are talking about superheroes, we should spend some time chatting about Dale. This guy is going to save the world, one app at a time (and potentially one beerstorm at a time...his word, not mine). Every time I talk to this guy, I feel like doing air kicks (maybe because of the beer) but mostly because he inspires others to contribute to their world through technology, service and just general do-gooderness.

Here's an air kick for Dale. Add him to your circles, follow him on twitter. You'll feel like doing air kicks:!/dalezak

Rethinking 'Climbing The Ladder'

"We know that decades of runaway capitalism with ever more desperate attempts to improve the bottom line and lobby for more deregulation have failed.

A transition from climbing the ladder of unfulfilling societal expectations and consumerism to blazing a trail with a life guided by a holistic focus on well-being, community and sustainability."

At Davos, Debating Capitalism’s Future

"Both the United States and Britain suffered because their economies were overly reliant on the financial sector’s artificial profits; living standards for the many worsened while the economic rewards skewed to the top 1 percent; a capitalist model encouraged short-term decision-making oriented toward quarterly profits rather than long-term health; and vested interests — from giant banks to media moguls —were deemed too big to fail or too powerful to challenge."

Canada’s Harper Government Guts Environment, Science and Monitoring Programs

"Canada’s Stephen Harper government is spending more than 60 billion dollars on new military jets and warships while slashing more than 200 million dollars in funding for research and monitoring of the environment."
