Next gen Odyssey to feature new powertrains, advanced connectivity, entertainment and safety promising the ultimate in family-friendly versatility and comfort
Odyssey teaser sketch reveals sophisticated, low and wide design
“Teaser scribbles” showcase vision of youthful designers
Press Conference scheduled for Jan. 9, 2017 @ 12:00 p.m. EST

DETROIT, December 19, 2016 –The all-new 2018 Honda Odyssey minivan will make its global debut at the 2017 North American International Auto Show on January 9. The 5th-generation 2018 Honda Odyssey has been completely redesigned and will feature new powertrain technology, sophisticated styling and showcase a new suite of innovative features, making it the ultimate in family-friendly design and packaging. The Honda press conference will take place at 12:00 p.m. EST on January 9, 2017.

An official teaser sketch of the all-new Odyssey was released today, along with four “teaser scribbles” from children of the Ohio-based Odyssey Development Team. These “scribbles” represent bold and youthful design, but the company admits adopting these futuristic illustrations “as is” from these doodling designers could present a variety of real world challenges, so more testing and validation will be required.

“We wanted to have a bit of fun by sharing some of the drawings from children of the Odyssey team members, since they were inspirational in shaping the family-friendly direction of the all-new Odyssey,” said Chad Harrison, chief engineer at Honda R&D America and the development leader of the new Odyssey.

Through five generations, the Honda Odyssey has consistently met the evolving needs of American families. The most popular minivan with individual American car buyers for six years running, the Odyssey is leading again in 20161.  In addition, the Honda Odyssey has been the most popular minivan with under-35-year-old buyers in every year since 20102, and American car buyers have purchased nearly 2.5 million Odyssey minivans since its 1994 debut.

1 Based on IHS Markit, U.S. new retail vehicle registrations by volume for Non-Luxury Mid Size Van segment for CYTD2010 - CYTD2016 through October.

2 Based on IHS Markit, U.S. new personal vehicle registrations by volume for Non-Luxury Mid Size Van segment and the age of head of household data for 18-34 year olds for CY2010 - CYTD2016 through October.

3 Car Parts You Should Get Up Close and Personal With

For most drivers, it’s enough to know that every time you get behind the wheel, the car’s systems will seamlessly work to get you from point A to B.

But it doesn’t take a lot to get familiar with important car parts, and learn enough to help you extend your car’s lifespan.

Here are some of the car parts you should know.
The pistons
This important car part manages how much “energy” your vehicle possesses. The pistons mix air and fuel prior to being ignited. An engine will either have four, six or eight pistons that move in a pumping motion inside the cylinders. A given vehicle’s horsepower and revolutions per minute (RPMs) depends on the pistons’ length and their pumping speed.

In general, you will get better fuel mileage and more power if the pistons pump smoothly. You can ensure they’re in good condition by following your vehicle’s service recommendations.
The fuel injector
The part that takes the gas from the fuel and moves it to the engine, the fuel injector replaced the carburetor around 1980, in part to comply with emissions guidelines set forth by the government.

With the introduction of the fuel injector, manufacturers were able to get better fuel efficiency and produce a cleaner emission. Follow manufacturer guidelines for servicing the fuel injector to ensure it functions optimally.
The radiator
This part works to prevent overheating in the engine. In the radiator, the engine coolant releases the heat it’s generated prior to being recirculated back to the engine. One of the most common radiator problems, a leak can cause your car to not function. Sometimes, the coolant will go bad and need replaced. Your mechanic can flush the fluid and identify any leaks that need repaired.

Be sure to have this part checked during maintenance to avoid a problematic radiator from becoming full of holes or rusted, which is an expensive fix.

Now you know the value of three of your car’s important parts. Be sure to schedule regular maintenance for your car to avoid problems. Contact Park Honda for help!

Here's How to Get the Most Out of Your Car Purchase

Car manufacturers are making vehicles that can last longer than ever before. But there are steps you can take to ensure you get the most out of your car purchase. Learn how to make your car last even longer, and in the end, save some money, too!

Step 1: Buy a reliable car
If you purchase a vehicle that’s durable and reliable, you can decrease the number of times you visit the mechanic. Be sure that you also choose a car you love -- one that you’ll want to live with for a long time.

Get the features you need that will grow with you and your family as your needs change. Choose a car with safety features like electronic stability control and powertrain technology.

Step 2: Be vigilant about maintenance
If there’s one thing you should do to keep your car running forever it’s maintenance. No vehicle can go without it, so be sure to strictly follow the maintenance schedule that’s outlined in the owner’s manual for oil changes, timing-belt replacement and so on.

Think about it: Even if you invest some dollars into helping your car last longer, you’ll ultimately get a higher return on investment -- and you can hold off on buying a new car.

You can really make your car last into the future if you follow the maintenance schedule for “severe use” or “extreme use.”

Step 3: Go for broke
When you need to replace a part on your new vehicle, don’t try to save a buck or two. Use the best parts for repairs and fluid replacement to get more bang for your buck.

Step 4: Be aware
Even with maintenance, problems can arise. So be on the lookout for strange noises and take the car in immediately if you think something's awry. You should also look under the hood periodically and look for cracked hoses, frayed belts or leaks.

Following these four steps will ensure your car lasts.

People Pleasers in the Community

One of our "People Pleasin" people, Candyce T. was out and about the other day visiting Panera Bread, Starbucks and Speedway locations. She took care of several folks lunch, coffee or fuel and was handing out fun little Park Auto Group cookies. Candyce had a blast that day meeting new people and seeing their smiling faces. It's an awesome feeling to do something little for folks and to do a little something to brighten their day.
