I ordered a Chromecast in late July from Amazon. It was back ordered for some time, but a few weeks ago, I received the good news that it was on the way.
I followed it via Fed Ex and USPS and, on the day it was out for delivery, I happened o be at home. I watched as the carrier pulled up to my mailbox and deposited the mail. When I went out to fetch my new toy, only junk mail awaited me.
I immediately got on line just in time to see the status on the package change to " delivered."
I called the post office and they had the carrier stop by the house. She was confused and said she remembers delivering only one Amazon box that day. She described the dimensions and it sounded right. Se went back to check at the other house and promised to return with information. She never did. I went to the post office and talked to two supervisors who apologized and said I should fill out a form.
Here's the deal (and yes, I know it's only a $35 dongle), does anybody think that my Chromecast can be tracked by its serial number once someone else activates it? I'm really curious to see which one of my neighbors is a felonious dickwad. Any clues on how to start investigating?
BTW, Amazon cheerfully refunded my money, so that's not even the issue. I'd just like to find out who got a package clearly marked for me and decided it would be OK to steal it.
