My family loved it! The all-inclusive package was perfect for us - parents and two grown children. My parents rented a car to explore and my brother and I went on excursions. We met for happy hour every night to enjoy the beautiful sunset, then dinned together. Because of some of the bad reviews, we all went with low expectations and an open mind. We were all pleasantly impressed. Sure internet was spotty at times and a few dishes weren't on point, but the friendly service, beautiful scenery and quality time with family made up for any small mishaps. Pura Vida!

Visited the end of July 2014 for son's wedding. Beautiful resort, nice staff, but at least 10 people out of our group of 70 got FOOD POISONING from the resort's restaurant including both of the groom's parents the night before the wedding. It wasn't just an isolated occurrence; others got sick on different days. Kitchen definitely has some cleanliness issues. Management doesn't acknowledge that the problem exists no matter how many guests bring it to their attention. This is a beautiful, wonderful place to stay. My only advice would be to bypass 'all inclusive' and go explore the excellent local dining instead.

First of all the people are so friendly and easy to communicate most of them are bilingual. Excellent service.even though they are very busy. The most breathtaking view of the bay with spectacular sunsets The hotel provide the facilities you need for a spectacular vacation with family and friends.

Nice hotel, good setting staff friendly. Meals adequate not great. However I would suggest buying breakfast at the hotel. This meal is worth it. Pay attention to what you are being charged at check out. They were charging me for an extra day and meals. Had a groupon for 5 nights, they insisted it was for 4 nights, until I showed them my copy. The bill was changed. Do not use Taxis Aeropuerto Liberia CR. The fare from the airport to the hotel should have been $80 or less. I paid much more. I was told by another guest they paid $60. Check with a few drivers before you settle on one.

A week of heaven in tropical Costa Rica in February, we're from Chicago. The hour drive from the Airport was worth it. It is rather secluded, a few restaurants in walking distance. Count on taxis to take you to Tamarindo Beach and Coco Beach for fabulouse shopping, we did. We also did the Congo Zip-Line and it was a blast, worth every penny. The hotel itself, restful, clean and an old time elegance. Staff goes out of their way for you. After asking I was moved to another part of the hotel where wifi was a lot better. If you'll be needing internet ask for a room that HAS it. Did the all inclusive and so worth it, food selection from daily and different buffet or menu was very good. Lounging by the pool, walking across the street to walk the fabulous Flamingo Beach. Guests gather on the beach at sunset and applaud each one. Don't have a camera, don't worry there are two young ladies there Ana and Val who walk around all day asking if tou want photos taken, and if so, you just visit their little store near the lobby and buy the pics you like. This is a people friendly resort, made lots of new friends, including the local iguanas near the Restaurant/Bar. I'm not great with name but three of the staff stand out. Adam (?) guy at front desk who was helpful in getting room changed. Girl who worked in restaurant Shashanty (SP?) and Indiria (clerk in the Brit Store in lobby.) Will go back. will ask for room with wifi. This place is heaven.

1. Wireless was horrible 2. Customer service ....there was none. 3. Couldn't bill drinks to the room. 4. After paying 170/a night they pitched a 50$ meal plan. 5. Nothing to do on this area but beach and pool. 6. The maids came everyday at 8 am to clean ...why ??? 7. The maids don't clean properly there was hair in the bed when we checked in. 8. We overheard other guests complaining about bed bugs. Recommendations 1. Stay in tamarindo.

I did not stay as a guest at the resort, but I did use their spa facilities, making an appointment on December 31st 2013 for a pedicure. I arrived, had my card processed, signed, and went for the pedicure. The pedicure itself was only so-so ... not great exfoliation and I wasn't given time to let the polish dry before being asked to leave the spa. However, the problem came 2 weeks later, when I realized there were THREE transactions on my account, all from "FLAMINGO BEACH RESORT GUANACASTE." One was processed Jan 2, the other two were Jan. 13 -- almost two weeks after my appointment. I didn't think much of it at first, thinking it was just a banking error, but shortly thereafter, I found several fraudulent charges from iTunes on my account. I cancelled my CC, called my bank and iTunes, and was told that someone from Costa Rica had made the purchases. Then I asked my bank about the Flamingo Resort charges and they told me they were ALL initiated by someone at the resort. I called the resort and was VERY rudely treated by the front desk manager and the operations manager, both of whom told me that it was normal to be charged and then refunded and then charged (for a higher amount!) later. They then told me that their resort NEVER shows up on VISA as "Flamingo Beach Resort". They also said that they had "no idea how these later transactions (2 weeks later) happened, as CCs are not kept on file unless you rent a room." In short, after a very frustrating phone call with the hotel, nothing was resolved. They THEN suggested that the charges were authorization holds, which is not true -- authorization holds don't get posted to your bank account and then refunded. They then accused me of saying their staff are thieves. Hello? No, I didn't. But clearly something is wrong here if you don't even recognize your own Visa name on a transaction... I have no idea what happened, but it was CLEARLY a case of someone using my credit card illegally because I have not used the card otherwise in CR (nervous about exactly this kind of thing!). The most frustrating thing about this is that the manager was completely unhelpful -- he kept giving ridiculous answers saying he didn't know, he didn't know how long it would take to find out information, that he wasn't inclined to help me, and that really, what could he do about it? The hotel looked lovely -- if overpriced for the area -- and the staff were quite helpful (although I'm not fond of the bands they make you wear to "tag" you as a guest of the hotel. However, given my experience here, I would NEVER recommend this resort to ANYONE, because even if the majority of folks are nice, friendly and trustworthy, if anything goes wrong, this resort does not stand by the maxim of "the customer is always right." Also, everyone monitor your credit card statements for at least a month afterwards -- you can never be too careful!

Flamingo Beach Resort is a smaller resort, set just next to the quiet, 1 mile stretch of beautiful, white-sand beach, also known as Playa Blanca. While getting there can be a drag if you’re not in Guanacaste already, check in process was fast and smooth; receptionist gave us just right amount of info about hotel / additional options and corrected the room type once we saw we got wrong room without a blink of an eye. All staff members we interacted with were very pleasant and gave us good, professional service. We had breakfast included, which is buffet style offering everything from gallo pinto, scrambled eggs & sausages/bacon (erm... or like ‘bacon wannabes’), over fruits, yoghurts and cornflakes to sweet pastry and pancakes or doughnuts. We ate our dinners out both nights, so I can’t comment on dining any further. The Pool View Room on the first floor had a nice view of the gardens and the pool, with not much direct sun during the day and no noise either. Bathroom seemed a bit worn out, but it was clean and the bed was comfortable with good pillows. The resort is most suited for (younger) couples, groups and families--the the pool area consists of kid pools connected to the large pool and resort offers quite a few activities/tours for all ages. Hotel is not for anyone looking for secluded peace and relaxation on their vacation, as the crowd at the pool can get noisy. On the other hand, people that are looking for fun and don’t mind the others enjoying themselves next to them will love the place. Pros: Location and price. Trip highlight: second night of our trip we had luck to witness bioluminescence of the waves at the beach! Completely surreal experience, worth the trip on its own. Cons: Some people can find music in the pool area obnoxious as it is repetitive and loud, lasting throughout the whole day.
