Hi Uncontained Lifers! We opt to visit fewer places in a country for longer durations. It gives us the chance to get to know a particular city, region, or destination a little bit better. The flip side is that we don’t get the chance to experience all that a country has to offer. In Brazil, we knew we wanted to experience Rio De Janeiro, visit our friends in Sao Paulo, and then, we had a giant list of amazing places we wanted to explore…and we had to choose just one. We were very happy with our choice. We chose Iguazu Falls!

We were supposed to have a beach vacation in Peru. Instead, we became ill...very, very ill.

As we approach the end of our final month in Mexico (for now), we ask the question, "should Americans still go to Mexico?" Long story short, we think the answer is a great, big, "yes!"

"This time around, thank God, I’m not loaded down with those same burdens. Which is not to say I’m now 100% worry and mental-angst-free. (I highly doubt that will ever happen.) But I’m not looking for escape hatches. Instead of turning my back on something I don’t want, I’m going back to something I do want: a life which excites me, sparks my compassion, inspires my creativity, and yes, still scares me a little sometimes."

When we first told people we planned to visit Cuba, we were told to get ready for a blast from the past. And yes, with its old cars and generally slower way of life, there’s a lot about Cuba which does feel part of another century. But there’s also a lot of things, from the clothes people wear to the numbers of young people hunched over smartphones in the parks, which are solidly “of the now.”

Every chance we get, we ride horses. Rain didn't stop us in San Augustin, Colombia, from riding the beautiful trails surrounded by greenery, coffee farms, and archeological sites.

Hello Uncontained Lifers! Our latest post come from our time in Chile. So often, we take for granted the basic elements of comfort we have. So often, we are unaware of the needs of the poor who don't have these necessities. And not so often, we find people who have decided to help those in need. Jairo and Chelsea are those kinds of people and we were so glad we were able to meet them and see the wonderful work they have committed to doing. Read our story to learn more about their project helping the communities in Santiago's campamentos.

We had a blast singing and celebrating with our Munich friends last year at Oktoberfest. We picked up a few tips along the way. Prost!
