Something we Apple fans need to get over: thinking that it is in any way radical or revolutionary to praise or buy products from the world's largest company.

I've been thinking about this for a couple days, and Limi has made the point that seemed strongest in my mind. The real 'revolutionary' viewpoint seemed to be that Beauty could be given pride of place in a world where Power usually dominates, often in quite ugly ways.

A serious problem with Google's personalized search results: we no longer know if we have shared definitions of words like "santorum." Today's news used the word in a way I was unfamiliar: as a proper noun. A quick google reassured me that it still means what I always thought it meant. But, do others get the same result?

Apple exec: “And right now, customers care more about a new iPhone than working conditions in China.”
Shall we show Apple (and other vendors) that this isn't true?

An article that puts a great perspective on Internet piracy fears. Let's not sell our future to protect the rock-star complex.
Y Combinator founder Paul Graham is right when he says that the continued push for legislation like SOPA and PIPA is a result of a failure to adapt to the changing environment the internet has created...

Well worth reading if you're following Occupy Oakland:

'“Diversity of Tactics” cannot be synonymous for “diversity of principles.” We cannot hide from our principles, and we can no longer have a movement with such “moral relativism,” as King called it. The ends do not always justify our means. In fact, we need to have means that are reflective of the ends that we seek.'
This is not meant to be an open condemnation of everyone who is organizing under the umbrella of "Occupy Oakland." That's a big umbrella, and there is a lot of work happening under it that I supp...

Trying to figure what's wrong with SOPA? Just imagine that you own or work for a company that makes maps. Now, imagine receiving a mandatory demand to remove a street from a map because someone claims that someone who has an address on that street may be violating US copyright law.

Heh, my favorite example is taking a cell phone video of your 3 year old kid dancing to music playing in the background and posting it to youtube for family/friends to view. Then weeks later after it's long forgotten getting arrested and jailed for a copyright related felony.

SOPA handles copyright worse than existing laws, not better.
