Is this acceptance driven by the fact that most of us do not really know how the Internet is actually working? Theresa Züger claims that it is time to engage in computer science, since it is way more fun than #cs at school.

As the end of the week comes closer, decisions might be taken in order to get things done. But don’t be overhasty, if you are deciding whether to #hire or not to hire a new #employee. When in doubt, don’t hire. Martin Wrobel, doctoral researcher, summarised the Startup-Clinics Talks presentation by +Wooga Head of HR Gitta Blatt. Bloggers and online journalists’ experiences of defamation and privacy law suggest that new approaches to legal policy are needed in a digital media environment. The Internet Policy Review published a paper by Judith Townend, that draws on empirical research to analyse chilling effects in the UK. Judith participated in the last Early Stage Researchers Colloquium. You will find her PowerPoint here (http://www.hiig.de/?p=14809).

Who has got to pay whom for what when networks interconnect? The interconnection agreement between +Netflix and +Comcast has offered an opportunity to reflect about the rationales that may lead network actors in their peering policies. Uta Meier-Hahn, doctoral researcher at the HIIG, uses the concept of #economics of convention to dig for the social in interconnection practices.
