Took my wife here for lunch. Food was great. You have the option to eat inside our outside. The waiters and waitresses are SCAD students. Looks like it is more catered for women to go out and get afternoon tea.

I booked this place for a little girls tea party. I spoke to a gentlemen a month prior to the party to make all of the arrangements as far as seating and time. A week prior to the party I the "manager" called to inform me that she was unaware of this party and needed more information. First of all she was VERY rude about the number of people we had in the party. She said we would be taking up most of her dining room and we could not have anymore than the 25 people. Then she got upset because I informed her that we had cupcakes being delivered to the restaraunt. I knew there would probably be some sort of charge for this, but her response was horrible! She asked me why I didn't order cupcakes from response was if the two employees I had spoken to earlier would have informed me that you all have cupcakes i WOULD HAVE ordered them from you! On the day of the party, we received wonderful service from a young lady. She went above and beyond to make the little girls party memorable. However, the "manager" decided to come up to one of the girls mother and let us know that we needed to leave and keep the children under control. The problem was..the girls were on their BEST behavior and there was no reason for her snotty attitude. We paid our $400+ bill and left! Get rid of the crabby manager and I may go back!

They have remodeled and completely changed the menu. Basically they got rid of a lot of the good stuff and raised the prices. The place now feels like a fancy, sit down restaurant instead of a cafe, but still has the bad service and dirty glassware. There were five customers in the whole place including me, and as many waiters, but it took a bit to get my drink and then 15-20 for them to cut my slice of cake [now plain, without the caramel sauce] For decor they now have victorian style furniture with leopard print carpet, yes, it looks as awful as it sounds.

I just returned from Savannah, and my daughter and I visited Gryphon for tea at 5:15 pm. For $18, we were served a large pot of tea of our choice, 1/2 sandwich of each: cucumber/cr.cheese/dill, and curry chicken salad, 1 ginger/lemon scone, grapes, and 2 petit-fours and a coconut macaroon. The atmosphere was nice, although a little overdone, in my opinion. We had eaten there previously (the day after they opened after the remodel) and enjoyed the salads and sandwiches as well as the flavored iced tea of the day. I did not have the pleasure of eating there before the remodel, but we did enjoy both visits since, and look forward to returning.
