I'm going to be DMing a homebrew campaign I've created soon that's a post-apocalypse setting where everything has reverted to medieval style technology. I'm really wanting to incorporate the Godbound Words in a very limited fashion: 1 word per character to start with, and more limited effort available. I think I've got everything figured out except for the difference between hit point damage and hit dice damage. SWN and Other Dust both run on hit points for damage, and I'd like to keep it that way for typical attacks. But when they use a Word or Gift, how should I mix that damage, since it's directed toward hit dice? A few options I'm considering:

1. I could keep separate count of hit points and hit dice? If either one hits zero, the enemy is dead.
2. I could compare Word damage to the table, then multiply the result by 8 (hit dice for enemies in OD & SWN are d8's)
3. I could have damage always count as straight vs, hit points, nerfing it a bit against single enemies at lower levels, but still have it go against hit dice (per normal Godbound rules) if I decide to incorporate mobs at higher levels.
4. Some other option I'm not considering?

Any advice on this? Thanks in advance!
