To celebrate the landing of NASA's Curiosity Rover - the Mars Science Laboratory - we'll be running a special live hangout.

In conjunction with +CosmoQuest. We'll have all your favorite space/astronomy journalists on hand to discuss the mission in depth, and celebrate the landing live, when it happens. Join Fraser Cain, +Pamela Gay+Philip Plait and +Miles O'Brien for this special event.

Over the course of this 4-hour Google+ Hangout on Air, we'll interview members of the Curiosity team live in the hangout, as well as other special guests from the +The Planetary Society and the +SETI Institute.

+Scott Lewis and +Amy Shira Teitel will be on location at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory to interview members of the engineering team, and show you what it's like to be at NASA during this amazing moment.

We'll update this event as we lock down more of the guests and participants. See you there! You can follow the hashtag #marshangout

(this will replace our regular Sunday night +Virtual Star Party)

Air France Airbus Flight 447 BEA Final report was published on July 5th, 2012.

http://www.bea.aero/en/enquetes/flight.af.447/rapport.final.en.php

This report has lot more details compared to the last report. It also validates several of my postulations in my blog post. Especially the part about the pilots not being the main or Root Cause of the crash.

BEA Summary: http://www.bea.aero/fr/enquetes/vol.af.447/note05juillet2012.en.pdf

BEA recommendations:

An informative IEEE Spectrum Article:
http://spectrum.ieee.org/riskfactor/aerospace/aviation/air-france-flight-447-crash-caused-by-a-combination-of-factors/

Changes made so far:
1) Pitot tubes design and supplier changed.
2) Stall logic algorithm changed
3) SOP in the cockpit changed

So what do you guys think? Do we have all the answers?
