This is great.  Hopefully it stays updated.  Google's services are very much a moving target these days!

Which apps and tools actually keep your messages safe?In the face of widespread Internet surveillance, we need a secure and practical means of talking to each other from our phones and computers. Many companies offer “secure messaging” products—but are these systems actually secure? We decided to find out, in the first phase of a new EFF Campaign for Secure & Usable Crypto. This scorecard represents only the first phase of the campaign. In later p...

I built this from a kit this afternoon.  It's a Micromite Companion computer.  Earlier today it was just an empty circuit board and a bag of parts.  I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.  It powered right up on the first try.  Granted it was a pretty easy kit, but I haven't done anything quite like this in many many years, so I was pleasantly surprised that I didn't have to go back and fix anything.

For more information about the Micromite chip and the Micromite Companion board, including videos, take a look here:

Congratulations! It always is a great feeling when you switch on something you built yourself and it works (even after some debugging). It doesn't have to be an own design, kits are just fine - I built a Micro-KIM and an enigma-E recently, and it was a great feeling :-)

I went looking for updates for some of the existing cores for my MIST FPGA this afternoon, and found that to my surprise, there was a new port of an Apple II+ core!  This thing's starting to support a lot of Systems!

More on the Apple II+ core here:

It took me a while to find it, but I finally found a Google help page that tells me how to see everything that I've +1ed within the Google+ streams(s) , as opposed to out on the web.

The interface is weird, but at least it exists.
<p>When you +1 a post, people in your extended circles who also have you in circles may see this +1 "activity update" in their streams. &nbsp; They will only see the activity update if they had access

This is interesting. Steve Gibson recently recommended this on "Security Now".

seriously secure mobile messaging

Please consider using Threema, a swiss-made app which allows secure strongly encrypted mobile messaging. For iOS and Android.

Lately, any time I want to share a photo in a post and I try to turn off location sharing for that photo or (group of photos) it refuses to turn it off, and the message "Failed to change the location visibility for this album." pops up.

If I can't find a way to fix or work around this, I'm just going to turn G+ auto photo uploading back off, and I'll go back to just uploading per item with Dropbox.  At least with that method, I can strip the location metadata before Google ever gets ahold of it.
