Your Wednesday will generally be a mostly sunny day across Central Iowa with fog across southern Iowa burning off this morning. Highs today will be in the upper 60's. A weak boundary and low pressure system drifting across Iowa may generate an isolated shower this afternoon. Coverage will be isolated and most areas will remain dry. Temperatures will continue to slowly moderate into the 70's by this weekend. Our next good shot at precipitation comes Sunday into next week. We could see some severe weather return to Iowa next week as well. More details on that will come out as we get closer to that event.

It will be a cool and windy Wednesday with chances for showers by the afternoon. Highs today will be in the lower 50's. A compact storm system will pass over Iowa today giving us the windy and showery conditions and because of that a wind advisory is up for the NW 1/2 of Iowa until 7PM. The cool and unsettled weather continues for Thursday before we get a break from the clouds and rain on Friday. Full details at madridiowaweather.com.

Rain will be on the increase across Central Iowa as we continue through Wednesday. The rain will change over to snow across NW Iowa and the snow line will slowly advance SE into Central Iowa tonight. Snowfall amounts in Central Iowa look to be in the 1 to 2 inch range with a few spots seeing 3 inches. As you head further north and northwest snowfall amounts will quickly increase up to 8 to 10 inches in the far north. Winter Storm Warnings and advisories are up for much of Northern Iowa for heavy snow and considerable blowing snow with strong winds.
Precipitation will end across the state Thursday but it will be windy and cold with highs only in the 30's. For all the latest radar, road conditions, watch/warning information and much more be sure to visit madridiowaweather.com.

A strong late season winter storm will impact Iowa starting tonight. Very late tonight rain showers will move into the area and by Wednesday we can expect to see off and on rain for a large portion of the day. A few thunderstorms will also be possible particularly over the SE portions of Iowa. Wednesday afternoon snow will make its ways into Northern Iowa and this is where the heaviest snow amounts will take place. A Winter Storm Warning is up for the far northern portion of Iowa where 6 to 10 inches of snow is possible. That along with strong winds by late Wednesday will cause near blizzard conditions. In Central Iowa the snow won't really start until Wednesday night and will continue into Thursday morning. I'm expecting 1 to 2 inches of snow along I-80 with a little more to the north. Keep it here and madridiowaweather.com for all the latest updates.
