I understand we need to be critical in some regards... but shouldn't we be more focused on other things then nitpicking about different denominations/beliefs?

I keep thinking the same thing! We LOVED it there. Nothing comparable around here, that I know of.

Unfortunately, I won't be there, but I will be... Love Is Red Conference!! I've never been excited to go to Ohio before. Weird feeling.

Also looking at getting a coffee subscription... One that highlights local smaller roasters. I have an idea of who I'm going with, but anybody have any suggestions?

Have you looked into Craft Coffee? They send 4-ounce samples from 3 different roasters once a month. Costs between $20 and $25 per month for a 12-ounce package. December's box came with Kuma, Irving Farm, and Toby's Estate. Good stuff.

If anyone is in the Detroit area, both Astro and Commonwealth are great cafes! Commonwealth does roast their own beans, but Astro is in the city limits. Both great shops with different feels.
Pictures are from Astro, somehow my Commonwealth photos didn't populate...

Hello all. I'm shooting up to Detroit; anyone know of a great coffee spot? I'd prefer one that roasted it's own beans, but a great shop would do.

Morning! I'm in the heart of Detroit! all of those places are great! But I tell everybody in my area, depending on your taste! Starbucks is all over the D, in Grosse Pointe you have Caribou Coffee, if you going to Royal Oak! They all on one whole block from each other, then you can pick, there is a coffee bar in Royal Oak and if I can remember, they roast their own bean there, but it was a long time ago! Hope you find what you looking for, and if you can't! Just give me a holla!

Stopped by Wormhole on a late Friday night. Had an espresso and a capp. Both were done right! Atmosphere fit the place and the place itself was packed. All signs that a place is doing something right. Great selection of whole bean coffee and retail items. Great place to stop by if you're in from out of town.

Took my wife to Napolese while we were in town because I've enjoyed the other Patachou restaurants. Food was impressively solid. Environment was cozy yet modern. The ONLY reason that I give this restaurant a good rating is because our service was HORRIBLE. Our server, after finding out we weren't drinking wine, clearly favored other tables and took forever to get us our check. Not the worst service I've ever had, but pretty close.
