Well, for a while there, I honestly thought the hooray majority would win and we’d have another, unwarranted, undemocratic and pointless Referendum on Brexit. Thank goodness that once and for…

What can you say about The Roebuck? A great place for families and everyone else alike, about as close to a welcoming old school, good pub you'll find these days. Excellent food, brilliant staff and a really friendly atmosphere. Never trouble here, if you have food allergies they go out of their way to accommodate. They are also great at events and value their customers rather than just giving you a grunt as you walk in. Not a noisy pub full of students and nicely out the way of the main madness of Reading proper. They have a pool table, darts, jukebox, a footie league and even give out yearly Oscars to regulars! The outside pub garden is lovely in the summer and the owner goes out of his way to make it a nice place to sit, with flower borders, covered seating and always well maintained seating inside and outside the pub. There's good off street parking too. Well worth a visit.

WORST COMPANY EVER!!!! Booked a cab for 12.10pm today at 10am this morning. No sign of cab by 12.15 so rang. Their female controller is possibly the rudest scumbag I've ever dealt with, could hear my little girl crying as she was going to be late for a party. Said it was on way stuck in traffic. That was exactly the reason I booked in advance. It doesn't take a genius to work out if you are booked for a certain time in advance you make damn sure you get there on time. No concern shown at all, she then put the phone down. Then got the driver on the phone, utter joker who refused to say where he was or how far, just stuck in traffic. Got to 12.25 and still no sign, so rang back and neither line was answered to my call. The automated service said 3 minutes away. Then at 12.40 it was "outside" but not outside at all. My daughter missed a good chunk of her mate's party due to the incompetence and rudeness of this bunch of cowboys. They had taken the wrong destination address too, and the driver who did finally arrive 30 minutes later than the booking had literally just been given the job (not the original "stuck in traffic" one) and was clearly embarrassed. We couldn't even get another cab as being Saturday they were busy, which is why we booked in advance with these. Finally got a call at 12.50 from original driver who proceeded to verbally abuse me as he was suddenly outside my home. Will NEVER use this company again and previously used it several times a week, and tipped drivers every time. Avoid, avoid avoid unless they give both the controllers on the phone some serious training, neither seems to fathom times other than on the hour or half past the hour. If you have anything important to get to, go elsewhere as you could walk there quicker. No empathy shown to the fact our child was upset.

After a less than brilliant course with another local driving instructor, I contacted SafeDrive, and was given Alan Harlow. He put me at my ease immediately, and gave me just the kind of instruction I needed. He was helpful, chatty and I'm glad to say that, despite many "lessons" with the previous instructor, after a few with Alan I passed my test. I would highly recommend Alan and Safedrive, their prices are competitive and I'm so impressed my partner will be learning to drive next!
