The power of monetary remuneration should not be underestimated. In my field, higher education, it never ceases to amaze me that universities hire people for their development offices on salary alone. When you hire a sales person, if commission isn't at least part of their package, what inspires ...

John Wooden, the famous basketball coach once said, “Failure is not fatal, but failure to change might be.” Change is rough, but you know what is even more tough…forced change. Get ahead of the game. Change now, while you have the choice to do so. Have you ever noticed how the best deals are ...

There is a saying that I remember my mother saying to me when I was young: “Be not the first by which the new is tried, nor the last to set it aside.” I get the point, but in retrospect, I am not sure I agree 100% with that idea. Someone needs to step out and be first.

How can you work with people to create opportunities out of their challenges? Recently, I have noticed things about companies with whom I deal regularly that could make them a good bit of money and improve their ability to serve their clients. My problem…I don't know exactly who to talk with ...

The following in an excerpt from the rough draft of what I hope will be my next book. Here are the opening paragraphs. Enjoy! “What is the color of love?…” John sang the old Billy Ocean tune quietly to himself as the subway drifted along the tracks on course to Port Authority station.

Why is it that you are usually happy to meet someone that a friend introduces to you, but if there is a stranger ringing your doorbell, you come to the door already hesitant to begin the conversation? I have found it true in my own life, that if for sure. When it comes to marketing and sales, ...

It is hard work to keep putting out your ideas. You keep plugging away and wondering if anyone notices other than your mom and your best friend. It takes time to gain any traction. The cool thing is when you start to see how each step you take is building on your previous work.

Please note. I teach college for a living. Let the reader beware, that is my profession and background. So, what is the best use of your money in regards to education? College isn't for everyone! Don't buy the hype that everyone deserves to go to college or that everyone needs a master's degree ...

We all have played a board game or computer game. There are rules. In order to win, we must stay within those rules or it is considered cheating. Over the last 1/2 century, the landscape of business has been changing. We don't live in the world of Leave it to Beaver anymore.

A commercial in the Superbowl is sort of like a hurricane washing over the coastline. If you can afford it, it will reach more people than any other paid for minute of the year can reach. Most entrepreneurs can't afford that kind of interruption publicity. We are more like the faucet that it ...

I do love my job, but I like doing lots of other things too. In general, I am quite content with my life. In addition to writing this blog, I teach Spanish, swing dance, work on my “Crackhouse”, write, volunteer at my church, date a wonderful woman named Emma and hang out with friends.

Went by "Joe" when I was younger.
I have stayed at the Hotel Don Moises on two different occasions while travelling in Honduras. Both times Amada and her staff made me feel like family. The price is great! Rooms were clean, the shared kitchen was nice as were the wonderful conversations with other travelers on the rooftop in the evenings. They were very helpful in making my father, who speaks no Spanish, feel comfortable. I have booked another stay with them for my next trip down later this year. When in Copan Ruinas, they are my #1 choice every time. (And the previous reviewer is correct, the dot on google maps is way off base. They are more or less across the street from Via Via about two blocks off the main plaza in town.

The food here is always great! The server is friendly! And if you are a hot mustard fan like I am, the owner makes his own and it is great stuff! If you are in Pickens for lunch or dinner, this little Chinese restaurant on Main Street is worth checking out! When you go, don't forget to have fun!

Came in from out of town and landed at Bito's for dinner. It was a great experience! Thoroughly enjoyed both the pizza and the service! Price was good too.
