Adventures in Middle-Earth

Another special Event we produced brought our Guests to the depths of Middle-Earth. The Lord of the Rings-inspired Event featured the elves, wizards and magical creatures only to be found in Middle-Earth.

In this mythological world where elves and wizards dwell, Guests found themselves face-to-face with fantastic creatures, and a magical setting was created.

Food stations matched the theme with lanterns, ferns and moss-laden forestry. Even friends from Middle-Earth joined in the Event, training the keiki on the skills of their land. The training grounds included capturing goblets of fire with magical rings and lessons in archery at the NERF castle tower!

From the depths of mystical realms to imaginary worlds, let us help you plan the next event for your child ~ or the child in you!

Down the Rabbit Hole...

We brought Alice in Wonderland to life for a
tea party to remember, from life-sized board games to the Queen of Hearts to the Caterpillar.

In the fictional land of Oxfordshire, Guests arrived to find themselves in a land ruled by the Queen of Hearts and the White Rabbit. Oversized board games scattered the lawn, while balloon artists and a caricature station were also available for the Guests’ entertainment and enjoyment.

Centerpieces featured the Caterpillar and Mad Hatter adorned with sunflowers and lilies, and of course, there were teacups for the tea party.

No event for the Queen is complete without her army of playing cards, seen here parading the food through the party.

TRENDING... AHEAD OF THE CURVE

At the start of every year, the top designers in New York reveal the “Top Trends for the Season”, showcasing everything new and hot, from patterns and prints to furnishing and décor pieces. At Current Affairs, we take pride in being at the pinnacle of innovative designs and current trends, as demonstrated by a recent event we started planning for back in September last year and recently we produced at an oceanfront venue on Maui. The Event featured hues of illuminated blues, LED tabletop fixtures and effective customization – all of which were later identified among this year’s top trends – positioning Current Affairs ahead of the curve!

HIDDEN TREASURES

Our Hidden Treasures event took place in Kahala overlooking the Pacific Ocean.  Tables were set. Menus placed and centerpieces perfectly adorned with hues of maroon, gold and caramel. Capturing the theme, passed pupu included Kumamoto oysters with cucumber yuzu on organic platters.  Guests also enjoyed an exotic tasting of seafood that included octopi, ahi, salmon and ika.  The evening ended with a “Hidden Treasures” takeaway. Petit fours in clear boxes were the perfect ending to an evening of decadence and diamonds.

SECRETS EVENT

Guests were beckoned to a hidden getaway, a private Kahala estate. There, we created a secret garden feel with an exquisite floral arrangement upon entry.  Crafted to perfection, our specialty welcome cocktails featured pomegranate gems sparkling at the bottom of Champagne flutes.  Throughout the estate, we incorporated the same flowers that were featured at the entrance to create a cohesive feel. Nestled among these were diamonds from our luxury Client’s new jewelry line.  Guests were brought canapés of potato, smoked salmon roe and yuzu kushi oysters elegantly placed on a bed of polished river stones.  The Guests continued their five-course meal with a hot smoked King Salmon featuring a Date Caper Emulsion, carrot and quinoa side.  As the night drew to a close, Guests were treated to a tropical dessert, the Mango “pop tart.”

THE AFTER PARTY: THE ILLUMINATED, FIERY AND ELEVATED

As the evening festivities seemingly began to wrap up, the warehouse doors slid open to reveal a nightclub scene. Guests, stopped in their tracks, were invited to join in the "after party," which included entertainment from above, as aerialists performed routines on silks to fire dancers drawing rings of fire into the night. Food trucks provided comfort food to Guests getting their second wind before hitting the dance floor to groove to the music. All the while, others lounged on the neon blue and pink furniture pieces placed throughout the nightclub environment.

Wanting to remind everyone, in a lighthearted way, that they could make an indelible mark on a child's life, a brick wall was transformed into Kapiolani's wishing wall where Guests could help fulfill a child's wish by leaving their writing, or in this case, graffiti, on the wall.

DOWNTOWN: THE EDGY, RAW AND UNCUT

Downtown Guests encountered lost tourists, acrobats and street performers who popped up strategically throughout the space. Even a slam poet took center stage to deliver Kapiolani's 'message,' synced with a heartfelt video played overhead on a Times Square-style jumbo-tron. Authentic New York City subway signs left no doubt that Guests were in a bustling neighborhood, with scaffolding set for construction, a chandelier of aluminum ladders strung from the ceiling, fully laden clotheslines spanning the room and even stage lights used as table centerpieces.
