What your favorite map projection says about you.

Mercator? "You're not really into maps."
Gall-Peters? "I hate you."

Sigh. This looks rather special - I do love the Sir John Soane's Museum.
Twenty of the rarest and most beautiful of Francois Fouquet's architectural models are on view at Sir John Soane's Museum in London.

Some very good ideas for circles from swissmiss. I am yet to create a 'dead to me' circle, but my Family circle may need to be re-named 'family who'll never comprehend Google+'

Love these iconic posts for the London 2012 Festival - just in time for new walls.

"We felt very nice and snug, the more so because it was so chilly… because truly to enjoy bodily warmth, some small part of you must be cold."

One of the best pieces I've read from the London riots - near-impossible to not watch the horrors unfold in familiar corners of my old home, let alone get this essay finished...
Panic on the streets of London. I'm huddled in the front room with some shell-shocked friends, watching my city burn. The BBC is interchanging footage of blazing cars and running street battles in...

Great food, slightly stilted atmosphere at times. Better in a group.

A classic cinema, with history and a heartbeat. A friendly, interesting place with wonderful events, a diverse community - a Newcastle institution. Visitors (and locals) should check out the free tours and news reels, date night couples the leather couches upstairs in the Classic.

The post office in Toon always has huge queues - but this little shop has friendly staff and you can get your parcels and bills sorted quickly with a smile. A hidden hive of efficiency.

A charming venue hidden close to the city centre - a much loved former bowling club house with two greens and some allotments and gardens. Hosts several events each year (Vamos festival, the best Guy Fawkes event and some community fairs), as well as lots of private parties. Great for weddings, parties, and concerts.

As far as TK Maxx goes, this one is big without being out in a box park - as ever, hit and miss, but a big store with a lift, and plenty to browse. Sometimes the queues to pay are long, but they generally move.

Some delicious cakes and nibbles - grab one before you catch a train. The same dream team behind the Settle Down cafe, who also do some amazing party and event catering. Bread, cake and biscuits, plus hot drinks on the go.

Some of the best coffee in Newcastle - a stalwart of the coffee scene in Toon. A stable of knowledgeable and well-trained baristas, talented roasters and some tasty beans. A flat white here can put the world to rights. An institution, a long history in the tea and coffee game. The bar in Grainger Market is a spot of special.
