What your favorite map projection says about you.

Mercator? "You're not really into maps."
Gall-Peters? "I hate you."

Sigh. This looks rather special - I do love the Sir John Soane's Museum.
Twenty of the rarest and most beautiful of Francois Fouquet's architectural models are on view at Sir John Soane's Museum in London.

Some very good ideas for circles from swissmiss. I am yet to create a 'dead to me' circle, but my Family circle may need to be re-named 'family who'll never comprehend Google+'

Love these iconic posts for the London 2012 Festival - just in time for new walls.

"We felt very nice and snug, the more so because it was so chilly… because truly to enjoy bodily warmth, some small part of you must be cold."

One of the best pieces I've read from the London riots - near-impossible to not watch the horrors unfold in familiar corners of my old home, let alone get this essay finished...
Panic on the streets of London. I'm huddled in the front room with some shell-shocked friends, watching my city burn. The BBC is interchanging footage of blazing cars and running street battles in...

A hidden gem - if every boarded up pub re-emerged as a friendly independent local pub with great food, a welcoming atmosphere and some quirky touches the world would be a better place. No TVs, plenty of dining space upstairs, a good mix of beers on tap, a good crowd. Amazing food - the Barn Asia/Electric East team have created a great spot to go with friends if you want to meet up on the west side of the city.

Home away from home! Nothing was too much trouble - great bar, friendly staff, food and drinks a plenty, quiet terrace, illustration and kooky touches. Free WiFi everywhere, a great library and plenty of useful info and tips. Charming, well located, deserving of it's top hostel title. We had a private en suite room on the top floor, was a great base to explore from. Highly recommend. (Bring a mug from your home town to trade for beers.)

Some of the best coffee in Newcastle, if not the UK - a stable of knowledgeable baristas, talented roasters and some tasty beans. A flat white here can put the world to rights. An institution, a long history in the tea and coffee game. The bar in Grainger Market is a spot of special.
