Autorobot Finland Oy started manufacturing auto body straightening systems in 1977. Our foundation was based on a patented invention that made vehicle straightening quicker and more efficient - the most important property of our systems at the time. This quality later on proved to be one of the more remarkable factors behind the success of Autorobot.

In recent years, advancements in vehicle body engineering have gone towards greater passenger safety. New requirements have forced vehicle manufacturers to create stronger frames where, for example, most rocker panel sections are of a much higher strength. Stronger box construction thus favors bench fastening methods based on pinch-weld holds. For this reason, pinch-weld fasteners, along with body support equipment, make this the quickest and most efficient way to mount increasing numbers of vehicles onto the straightening bench for repair. Therefore, the value of Autorobot’s patented fastening methods has grown to be superior in present vehicle straightening work.

Today, almost all vehicles have an auxiliary frame. Since the body is fastened to this frame with vertical bolts, these specific locations offer Autorobot technicians excellent reference points for measuring chassis and body positions. So, measuring new vehicles to acquire the all-important measuring standards for each model has become easier and more precise. This results in top-quality repair with body shops’ use of Autorobot’s 3D measuring systems, both the electronic device with new software and the manually operated one. The quality of the straightening work can be proven to the insurance company and to the vehicle owner with help from the measuring standards document.

We recently introduced the trendsetting straightening bench Autorobot B20, operated by radio control. This bench system was used in the Helsinki World Skills 2005 competition by students from all participating countries. The remote-controlled Autorobot B20 quickly became the most admired straightening system among body repair technicians due to its remarkably innovative technological features.

Our present Autorobot product line also includes patented pulling tools for general use such as grippers, versatile pull sets, sheet metal pullers, resistance welders and other distinctive equipment needed for today’s collision repair.

1969
Mr. Olavi Venäläinen opens a full-service auto body repair shop.

1972
Olavi Venäläinen invents a new method to make straightening work easier and faster.

1974
A prototype of the new method is perfected. The device is named Autorobot.

1975
Patent application is made for the Autorobot fastening and straightening components.

1976
The group conducting auto body repair research for Finland’s insurance companies, VAT, examines and tests the new Autorobot device. VAT recommends Autorobot’s innovative straightening techniques to body shops in Finland.

First deal is closed with the biggest collision repair shop in Finland. The buyer is the importer of Nissan and Chrysler, Aro-Yhtymä Ltd., in Helsinki.

1978
Manufacture of the total-vehicle measuring system is started (which measures both chassis and body) and measuring data accumulation is begun.

1980
Autorobot achieves 90% market share in the Finnish market.

1981
Export decisions are initiated, encouraged by phenomenal success in Finland.

1985
Own manufacturing factory is built in the industrial area of Kuopio, Finland.

A subsidiary company is established in California, USA.
The welding department in Finland is automated by acquiring a welding robot.

Export to the Asian market starts. The machining department is automated by acquiring a computerized machining center.

Autorobot’s top-of-the-line model, the Autorobot III, is followed by the Autorobot IV.

Zinc plating facility is built.

1998
New model of the electronic total-vehicle measuring system is launched.

Marketing of Autorobot B20 straightening system is kicked off.

2004
Development is initiated of the B20 with radio control.

2005
Licensing is issued for manufacturing contract in Asia.

2006
Autorobot Micro B, successor of the Autorobot Micro, economic frame machine for small and medium-size damages is launched.

2008
New CNC machine is acquired History - Autorobot


New Autorobot B15 lift/frame machine and EzCalipre 2/3D electronic measuring gauge with new measuring technology are launched.
2010
Mechanical measuring tram gauges Cali-Tram and Cali-Measure are launched.

Over 30 years of innovation, our company has brought several new methods - protected with more than 60 patents - to the collision repair industry. Our current product range consists of collision repair systems of various sizes that fit both small and large body shops.
