I've been right next to this place numerous times because I always visit Bite Cafe when I'm in Chicago. Finally had a chance to check out the venue and overall it was great. The place gives off a very intimate underground vibe. There's a pool table and a couch in the front room, an arcade corner, and the walls are lined with band posters. The stage is right next to the bar and fairly small but good sound quality. My only issue is that sometimes the speakers are way too loud. I've been to many concerts, standing near massive speaker systems, but this was so bad that I had to put in ear plugs (was lucky enough to bring someone along who had some). I felt like my ear drums were punctured even with them in and had to leave towards the end of the set with a headache.

Small venue but great for local shows. Cash only, so come prepared for that. There is a pool/game room in the front too for an escape from the music.

Premier destination for quality underground, indie, electronic, rock, etc. Excellent bands are consistently performing throughout the week. Loud, no frills, and up close sight lines. Cool vibe throughout. Beer selection is good. Ticket prices are reasonable. Staff is friendly. Great venue

I'm torn on this place. I really wish they did a better job with volume leveling, and not just going for blow your face off loud. I couldn't hear any lyrics and it is pretty difficult going to sleep when your ears are ringing. This place is that loud. On the other hand, its has an awesome atmosphere, very underground feel, band posters all over the place, it's great.

As my first review, The Empty Bottle holds a special place in my heart. Given that I live around the corner from this venue I have been here about 25 times and I highly recommend seeing a show here! Try one of their beer & whiskey specials or a Shiner Bock. Ladies, be warned there are no mirrors in the bathroom. Oh, and wear heels because if the show is sold out you might end up in the back. They also have other community events held there during the day - from garage sales' to craft fairs - all with a great vibe.

It doesn't get much better. The place looks like a dump but in a very appealing way. The beer is cheap, the crowd is cool and the sound is perfect. Checking out random underground bands is mostly low cost and mostly worth it.
