Really love their hot pot dish! The atmosphere is very similar to any chinese restaurant but there's enough room for a big group. Sake and beer are pretty inexpensive although not too many options. The service is pretty good - can't complain. You absolutely have to try the hot pot dish with a group of friends! They have a mild and spicy broth, must get a spicy broth! But if not everyone in your group loves spicy, get a half/half. Order bok choy, bamboo shoots, beef, chicken and drop everything in one pot. In 2-3 minutes, fish out your food with individual nets and enjoy!! Worth the experience!

first two times were good, last two times were bad

I have been ordering delivery from them for years and lately their customer service got really bad. When my officemates ordered the same dish we got half a dish each - literally! they might be cooking the two orders together and went too far in making sure they do not give too much. This happened consistently for a few times now. Items were missing from the delivery all the time and when I called back to inquire the managers were usually not apologetic at all. Other Chinese places in the mid-town area usually have excellent service - when they missed an item they would apologize and send replacement over right away - some even offer free appetizer for the trouble. When I called GSI today about a missing item, their first response was "so how about we give you this item when you order next time?" No - I want it today, really, that's why I ordered it. When I expressed frustration that this happened a lot, the manager told me that I "should not be too picky since people make mistakes sometimes". I finally told her that I do not want to order from them any more - and here's the line of the day - she replied "fine, like we care". This was not an argument, trust me, we were just talking calmly and the lady threw this line at me casually just like that. Do NOT order from them - they are not worth the aggravation. Try Ginger's or SichuanGourmet - who actually care about their customers.

The rice that came with our order was the worst I've ever had, stale and hard. The eggs and tomato dish is nice but overpriced. Scallion pancakes were fair. The beef with hot peppers was not ok but there was too little beef. The Chongqing potatoes were very nice. Spinach with garlic sauce was also good. The fortune cookies were even stale. The restaurant should stay open later.

Solid chinese food and not very expensive. We came here for the hot pot and it did not disappoint. Have not had the prepared foods, but they sure did look good.

FREAKIN HORRIBLE FOOD!! I ordered lunch from the Murray Hill location for the first time today, and I have to say I am EXTREMELY disappointed. I can't even eat my meal. I ordered something simple. Chicken with Fresh Ginger. There is no ginger at all. My food looks like it was just thrown together to fill a plastic dish. It's swimming in red oil and tastes like hot tomatoes with spicy sauce. The wonton soup was tasteless and had no filling in the wonton itself, the steamed shrimp dumpling were overcooked and fell apart, very tasteless, no shrimp. If I could get my HARD EARNED money back, I would.

The food and portion from this place is pretty good, but not so much the cleanliness. I order from this place at least 2x a week on seamlessweb, but had a horrible experience today. I will NEVER order again from this place. I ordered string beans and hunan lunch special. When I open the dish - there was a cooked cockroach sitting on a snow pea. That was utterly disgusting. So take a closer look at your food before you eat it.
