When I was a child, I thought that people only pretended to believe. It seemed too incredulous for adults to actually believe in it; it was like believing in the Tooth Fairy, Santa Clause, or the Easter Bunny.  It wasn't until high school that I realized people actually believed these outlandish tales.

So here's a simple question for everyone:  how?  How can people believe in talking snakes, 900 year old men, magical beings, etc.?
