Facebook took a wise business decision by sticking to social networking business when the first starter Orkut went phut. Number of nudging i get in my page looks like their bank account is swelling by ad money.
Facebook started out as a 'closed social network', one essentially meant for friends, associates and colleagues who know each other, to share personal information, photos and events that they may have been involved in. As...

Like any virtual monopoly, they are doing very well currently, both in terms of MAUs & bottomlines. However they have a bunch of failures themselves which have been swept under the carpet by successes on these fronts. Take for example their much-hyped email service which, despite the high-powered campaign at the time, never quite took off. Or take for example the highly-priced acquisition of Whatsapp. Despite its great growth, owing to it being part of the Facebook stable and owing to having caught on particularly in countries like India, they have no independent revenue or business model as of today and, if they were an independent business, there would be red flags all over on this account. Even as a 'division' of FB, they need to be up on their feet, rather than simply being a loss-making division.
'Context collapse' would be another area of concern which, unless reversed, could irreversibly change the very nature and positioning of FB.

Interesting discussion on Tina Dabi..
Tina Dabi is the UPSC Civil Services 2015 topper. She achieved this feat at the age of 22 years. Naturally, she deserves all appreciation, and young girls throughout India are seeing to her as their role model. There is another fact which makes this success even more satisfying; ...

My visit to Gold Coast and then going to the beaches of Pacific Ocean at Surfers Paradise triggers my memory of my posting at Vizag, the city by the side of Bay of Bengal....the low flying seagulls and the salty air transports me back.....
Seagull ………… The sea was looking blue, the sun was about to set. The seagulls were circling over the sea at a distance from the beach. The surfers were returning, the air was salty; a fishy smell was hanging in the ...

I often get food delivered to my home. They maintain the time and quite reasonably priced. I like their typical Bengali cuisine of musoor daal, macher kaalia, aamaer chatni, potol posto etc.

It has gained individual identity by shifting out of South City to this place. The buffet spread with Indian, Chinese, Italian thrown in is awesome. Yeh, one gets value for money. I loved the non veg starters.

Next to Dhameka stupa and the ruins there this is the next best place to visit. It gives the glimpse of Budha's lif in miniature form around the giant 70 ft statue. It is very well maintained.

One of those rare forts constructed by Hindu king bang on the bank of Ganges. This fort made of Chunar stone is favorite haunt of Bengali film makers. Bengali films like Nauka Dubi,Chokherbali, Har Har Byomkesh had been shot here. No doubt a picturesque location.
