Fall for a New Workout

It may seem like just yesterday that the summer sun warmed our skin, but Illinois has gotten chilly in a hurry this year. If you’ve been taking advantage of the summer weather to get an outdoor workout, this may have quickly put a damper on your fitness plans.

Never fear—there are tons of awesome activities to explore indoors during medical weight loss with OPTIFAST. Outdoor workouts can be a breath of fresh air, but you may find yourself enjoying these indoor workouts for different reasons: a climate-controlled environment, electric lighting and, in many cases, a chance to socialize with others.

If you need a new workout for the brisk weather of this fall and winter, start your search by exploring these fun, group-friendly options!

Yoga.
Meditative and majestic, this ancient practice has countless health benefits from improving your core strength and flexibility to helping you find inner peace.

Dance.
Zumba, tango, salsa, and square dance —there are a million different kinds of dance to learn, so what are you waiting for? Taking a dance class can expose you to new cultures as well as giving you some stylish moves to show off at parties.

Martial Arts.
If you want to kick butt and burn calories, there are few better ways to do so than learning a martial art. You’ll learn to defend yourself from potential attackers as well as excess weight.

Feng shui refers to the practice of rearranging and structuring an environment to create a harmonized flow of energy. Losing weight may be the last thing that comes to mind when you hear the term feng shui , but applying this Chinese practice may actually help you reach the goals of your medical weight loss program.

Try applying the following feng shui tips to your medical weight loss plan:

Eat from blue plates or on a blue tablecloth.

The color blue may have a calming effect and is believed to reduce blood pressure and pulse rate. Eating in the presence of the color blue may help you slow down and apply a more mindful approach to eating.

Place objects that promote weight loss in your line of sight to the kitchen.

Instead of having a straight view of the kitchen from your front door, disrupt this line of sight by placing your gym bag or tennis shoes on the floor. This can disrupt any thoughts of food and remind you of your healthy efforts to lose weight.

Add more mirrors around the house.

Mirrors allow for more reflected light in your home and are believed to help positive energy flow from room to room.
