One of the most jaw dropping #blackwalnut #slabtables we have ever produced. This bookmatched set of walnut was hard to sell, but now sits in a dining room of a very happy customer in Sherwood, OR. Who are we? We are a locally owned small business who is proud to represent Oregon's best renewable resource - reclaimed urban trees. We have been in business for 10 years serving Oregon and the United States with beautiful products from our local area. Located right outside of the Portland area near Oregon City/Estacada we mill every tree on our property and air-dry them for up to two years before kiln drying each slab. We carefully monitor each load to make sure every slab represents the quality we require for our own projects.

We work closely with every customer (individuals, builders, designers) to ensure your project has our full attention. We can stand behind every piece of furniture we make because we know exactly how it was taken care of from log form to finished piece. Working with us skips the middle man and in turn saves you money and the hassle of working with multiple people.

Please give us a call to arrange a time to meet with us and discuss your project. We consider it an honor that our current and long time clients have allowed us to serve Oregon for a decade. We look forward to many more years to come.

Merry Christmas, from all of us at Jewell Hardwoods!

We rescued this Siberian Elm tree from the front yard of a home in Portland Oregon over 4 years ago. We milled the tree, air-dried it for 2 years, then kiln dried it for 3 months. Part of this tree has been transformed into a gorgeous kitchen counter-top in Salem, OR, and the other part of the log is now a stunning 10.5 Dining Table on its way to New York.  It is amazing what we can do with someone's potential firewood!! #SiberianElm #ReclaimedWood #DiningTable www.jewellhardwoods.com

Story
Tagline
Sustainability in mind, JEWELL HARDWOODS specializes in producing High Quality Hardwood Slabs & Lumber for Custom Live-Edge Furniture, Slab Tables & Desks
Introduction
With a passion for woodworking and a background in heavy construction I got tired of seeing beautiful hardwood logs sent to the landfill. That is when I started out milling and drying lumber for my own woodworking projects. Soon I had a shop full of wood and no place to work. Now I provide quality recovered local hardwoods at an affordable price.

Producing high quality lumber and slabs is more than what I do, it is my passion. I love seeing logs that may have been cut into firewood turned into amazing sustainable products. All the material I produce is held to the same standards I demand for my own projects This means drying it slightly slower than commercial kilns and conditioning it for lumber free from case hardening.

Love the wood but live out of the state? No problem, we can ship anywhere! We sell all over the country, mostly due to the lack of beautiful Black Walnut on the East Coast.

Feel free to look through some of our inventory that is on Google's Picasa Photo Page. You can also contact us to find out our dry wood availability or green and what is coming up in the kiln.

We look forward to putting these gorgeous pieces into your showroom and home.

We live in Oregon City and our crew are avid whitewater kayakers. We just today visited the Boise, ID Whitewater Park / Esther Simplot Park & Boise Water Sports. We are seriously impressed. There were hundreds of people there enjoying the river/pond areas. There was a boat rental shop as well as a place to purchase food. This development has taken over 11 years to get through the red tape and the water features have been open for the past 4 years. It is totally boosting the community and economy of the area as well as drawing support for the community as it was set up as a private funded and donated to organization. There are still many areas that are currently being developed and expanded and they look wonderful. What was once a landfill and quarry is now a gorgeous economic boosting gathering spot! Absolutely mind blowing, top-notch developers have planned this park. It is the jewel of Boise. I only hope and pray that Oregon City's eye-sores along the Willamette can be turned into the same beauty and recreational opportunities that Boise Whitewater park has done. Excellent Job Boise you are to be commended!

I research for hours before I book a hotel. I believe the only reason this hotel is listed currently as 16th is because past reviews were written before all the massive renovations took place. Nothing was as REFRESHING as calling the Riverhouse Hotel and speaking with a friendly and helpful staff member, I love it when I can reach a person first and not a andwering maching and robot. They had a suite available with River View #2-222. With my AAA rate we got a massive suite for only $188. Great price. Although, construction and renovations are taking place all around the property, the upgrades are all for us! Walking into Building 2 you can tell it was just fully remodeled and updated. It looked and smelled like a brand new building. Walking into our room we were astounded by the massive size of the living room. Large dining room table seating 6, couches and chairs, microwave, Keuirg coffee maker with coffee, teas and half&half, refrigerator, TV, HUGE porch that overlooks the river. Separate bedroom with 2 nice quality queensize beds, closet and TV. My only gripe about the whole room is even though the white window treatments in the bedroom are gorgeous, they are see-through and do nothing to darken the room in the morning, which is a massive bummer when you are going away on a vacation. I was almost ready to sleep in the front room hide-a-bed with my daughter this morning but the comfort level did not entice me. (The curtains have a room darkening panel) We have never been in a room where we had to take the plastic off of the hide-a-bed mattress because we were the first ones to use it. Finally, no fear of bedbugs because this place was new and spotless! The view and sound of the river is relaxing and beautiful. Bathroom is huge with a lovely shower. Since the restaurant on site is going through a total remodel there is a free hot continental breakfast in their gorgeous convention center building just across the path. Every building looks like it is under a full remodel. SPOIL ALERT!! In the last 13 years of acting as family travel agent I have never found a hotel with TWO HUGE POOLS and Hot Tubs. One inside and one outside. The outside pool goes down to 6ft which is hard to find in hotel pools. Tons of nice lounge chairs surrounding. The inside hot tub is huge and curves around to fit at least 12-16 people. We were absolutely blown away at the huge open feeling building of the inside pool, not the stuffy little room as some places have. Reminded me much of Skamania Lodge, in Stevens Washington. You can even open up some of the solid glass doors to bring the outside in. My kids, spouse and I never want to go anywhere else in this part of Oregon. It was NOT A HOTEL it was a RESORT with all the amenities! Check it out, how often can you stay in a spanking new resort! Classic-Southern Oregon Outdoor Charm! YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!

Looking for a last minute massage is scary and difficult, on Sunday almost impossible. I read over 30 reviews for places all over the city and was excited Massage Elements called me back after a cancellation. Walking in-peaceful-quiet. Scheduled a 90 minute deep tissue. Greeted by Jude, she was very friendly and asked about me needs. I like my massage deep and she had the perfect balance of deep and relaxing. Rooms are completely sealed and private, which is very calming. I can let my guard down and relax. Jude said she can also work on focus areas, up to 90 min or more on your most painful and tough places. There are some masseuses who are truly gifted in what they do, Jude is fits that bill. The ambiance was professional without being clinical. Surreal spa experience. I loved it so much I bought a gift certificates for my dad. - Rachelle Layzell, Owner Jewell Hardwoods

Fresh Delectable Perfection - Made from Scratch - Quintessential Beach Bakeshop. Going to the Beach Bakeshop in Rockaway resulted in the most valuable treasure found at the beach. The owners at "The Beach Bakeshop" take pride in their fresh made from scratch pastries. Making a decision on one was impossible, so we ended up wanting one of each. We ended with a Butter Crust filled egg, cheese and bacon pastry which was absolutely incredible- flakey and full of flavor. The Cinnamon Rolls were unlike any we had ever eaten before. They have a thinner less dense dough which adds more layers of cinnamon filling in each tender bite. The fruit filled pastries are delicious flakey and filled with cream cheese strawberry, cherry, apple, or raspberry. The star of our breakfast was the Cheddar, Bacon Biscuits. Perfect addition to the omelette I made from our Silver Sands Hotel Room (see my review for them). I hope The Beach Bakeshop stays around for decades to come. The owners are a delight to talk with or enjoy your sweets while watching the large TV. This is definitely our favorite place to eat in town. Next time you are in Rockaway or Garabaldi come enjoy a delicious pastry and espresso at their large kitchen table, (free wifi available). Your tastebuds will thank you.

BEST INDIAN FOOD IN THE PORTLAND METRO AREA! Thank you so much for making the decision to buy and open up this hidden jewel! We appreciate the pride you have in your cooking to keep it small and made by you the owners. We love supporting local family run businesses like ours. Unbelievable flavors! Each dish was packed with flavor and unique spices. We will be back as often as possible. Next time my wife and I will each order our own Chicken Paratha, since I wouldnt let her have much. It was my favorite dish. The samosas were excellent, so much flavor. Chicken Currry was amazing to have so many huge pieces of chicken thigh, and the flavor was rich! Chana Masala was original with a hint of cinnamon to set it apart. We are so glad we ordered the large so we can enjoy the left overs this week. To everyone out there, DO NOT LET the inside setting turn you off. Totally casual, just some tables and chairs and food served in to go containers. Believe me you will appreciate the value when you taste the high class restaurant quality flavor. Cant wait to call ahead and bring it home to the family! It is located on Arlington just past Portland Ave set back on the right.
