"Citadel: Adventure of the CRYSTAL KEEP", Macintosh, 1989.
I know, I've said many times that this blog is retired, and yet I somehow keep stopping in here and quietly adding to it. (Why retired? I will write pages around this video game ad scan and eventually rack up some 20 views, then someone will post the same...

Textmode art roundup: Star Wars RTTY
May the 4th [be with you] means it's time for another (as we have done not once but twice before) celebration of all things Star Wars in the realm of textmode art! People were literally drawing Star Wars ANSI art this month, but it's part of a surprisingly...

The 2018 Birthday Haul
I know, my blogs really have been thrown under the bus. It seems that these were ways I exorcised frustrated creative energy that might otherwise be expended curating, packaging, distributing and promoting computer artpacks. That wasn't an issue so long a...

One night from tonight, a hilarious rump caucus of my "jug band of the damned" the +Creaking Planks plays our first performance in town since last September, an April Fool's musical celebration of sheer folly downstairs at the WISE Lounge, along with PNW folkie weirdo Aaron J. Shay in his first Vancouver appearance. It's a Sunday night, but the following morning is Easter Monday, so don't be afraid to turn out! I promise we will be excessively silly.

I'll be playing some silly songs from +the Creaking Planks' songbook Sunday, April 1st at the WISE Lounge, supporting Aaron J. Shay from Seattle. I don't make it out that often these days (and he's never been here before at all!) so be sure to catch us or risk being found inadequately foolish.

Better late than never: Christmas roundup 2017
Here we are, the closing minutes of January 2018 and look at me, sitting around with an open tab containing a WIP post describing my Christmas video games haul. It's already kind of pathetically late, but on the other side of this imaginary dividing line o...

The video game box art typography game
I forget precisely where I picked up this habit, but ever couple of years I like to stump my fellow video game scholars over at Mobygames in a curious but creative way, collaging up a logo using letters sourced, ransom-note-style, from the distinctive box a...

Underground Computer Art Roundup: Queen
OK, first things first: let's queue up the tunes. Here's a .SID arrangement of the song "It's A Kind Of Magic", made in 2 days by Martin Galway for the Ocean Software Commodore 64 video game adaptation of the 1986 movie Highlander (and by all reports, the ...

"Eye of the Beholder 2", 1991.
Well OK, less than a month after I officially put this blog down for its final indefinite rest, only to be re-invoked in the occurrence of a wildly unlikely eventuality... that eventually actually came to pass.  I started documenting ads for SSI's Dungeons ...

Blender 2017: "Cool Dads / Cooking / In the Apocalypse"
I was feeling bad that the entire calendar year of 2017 was on the verge of having passed by without a single update to this blog. It's true, I have plans to migrate activity tangential to its mission to The CYOA Addict , but we're not quite there yet... a...
