Use Chrome as a quick notepad

I've known for a while about the ability to paste some code into Chrome's address bar to access a basic text editor for jotting down notes. +JR Raphael just supercharged that productivity hack with the suggestion to combine it with Chrome's custom search engine capability.

Head to chrome://settings/searchEngines, click Add, and paste the below code into the URL field:

data:text/html;charset=utf-8, <title>Scratchpad</title><style>body {padding: 5%; font-size: 1.5em; font-family: Arial; }"></style><link rel="shortcut icon" href="https://ssl.gstatic.com/docs/documents/images/kix-favicon6.ico"/><body OnLoad='document.body.focus();' contenteditable spellcheck="true" >

You can then call up your scratchpad by simply typing "s" into the address bar. Super handy tip!

Be sure to check out other clever uses for custom search engines (among other pro-tips) in his latest post:

Happy #WatchfaceWednesday!

Today's feature is the aptly-named Material Style Watchface by BlueIceShard. This is a native Wear OS face which boasts a very clean Material design. It offers 15 color options for both the background and the scents, and also packs three different second/tick styles. It also supports three Wear OS complication slots.

It's a simple face, but it's thoughtfully done and I think it looks pretty sharp. Check it out here:

Note: This face is Wear-only and doesn't have an Android companion app. You won't be able to install it on your phone. Either use the link above to install it to your watch or search "Material Style" in the Play Store on your watch.

I was inspired to check out Crostini after +Kevin Tofel mentioned it at the bottom of his post describing how he codes on his Pixelbook. I suppose I've now returned the favor. ;)

Crostini's not ready for general release by any means, but if you're a chronic tinkerer (and own a Pixelbook) it's definitely worth playing with. This is a game changing development and I can't wait to see how it gets fleshed out.

That's accurate.

I take it Narnia doesn't have Cinnabons? Because if you can magic up a plate of those, I'll betray whoever.

Also accurate.

I've had a lot of fun playing with Daydream. Might be a good time to check it out if you haven't yet.
