Norm Karkos anchors WMTW News 8 This Morning on Saturday and Sunday and is a general assignment reporter.
While serving as Sports Director, Norm led the state of Maine’s most celebrated department, as he was an 11-time winner of Maine’s Best Sporstcast, as voted upon by the Maine Association of Broadcasters and Maine Associated Press.
Norm's assignments ranged from the Boston Red Sox' historic comeback against the Yankees in the American League Championship Series to an even more historic stop in St. Louis for the Red Sox' first World Series championship in 86 years.
He also covered the New England Patriots' "Dynasty" run, was the host of "Pats Game Day," traveled to three Frozen Fours with the University of Maine Hockey Team, covered the Daytona 500 and called play-by-play for the Portland Sea Dogs and Portland Pirates.
Aside from covering local and world news, ranging from politics to storm coverage, Norm has already traveled to Los Angeles, which resulted in a month-long series on "Dancing with Stars."
Norm graduated from
the University of Arizona with a degree in Radio-Television. While in
Tucson, he "walked-on" to the UofA football team.
In his spare time, Norm enjoys golfing, sailing and cooking.
