Stiles Switch BBQ & Brew

As someone who doesn't LOVE Barbecue (I know, I know, don't smack me) I absolutely can't get enough of Stiles Switch! The brisket is awesome, and the mac & cheese is no joke. This year, we bought our holiday turkey here and it's the best we've ever purchased in Austin.

Day 10: Epoch Coffee

Not only is this area of town reason enough to hang out, Epoch is really a nice, hip neighborhood coffee shop. With both indoor & outdoor seating, there's also a comfy couch to make yourself feel at home. The staff is super helpful, and answered all my questions, especially my fav - "what's your favorite thing on the menu?"

Day #11 - Flamingo Cantina

I have a love/hate relationship with Flamingo Cantina that always ends in true love. One of my fav local spots, the vibe is chill and mostly everyone is super friendly. My only two complaints: expensive, mediocre drinks and rats on the balcony. Why do I love them no matter what? Besides the beautiful sounds of reggae being played, this is the spot my fiancé first told me loved me after he performed on stage.

Jet setted off to New Zealand alone and spent a year there, where I lived in a van for 3 weeks, swam in the ocean with wild dolphins, road tripped alone, and skydived!

This is one of those awesome neighborhood bars you could visit all the time - cheap drinks, interesting patrons, and singers that don't give a damn. But, I wouldn't go out of your way to visit, either!

Great staff, knowledgeable instructors and pump-it-up aumbiance make this Zumba studio awesome! They will even asses your fitness needs and give you a shake after every class. Plus, the people that attend are totally down to earth, it is great for first timers too. I really enjoyed going, but now I work up North and need to find another studio just as good!

Imagine a world where you could mix swirl custard with a cool flavor of shaved ice - like strawberry, mint, or orange cream. Well, drive on down to Rita's and have your dreams come true! Seriously, this place is amazing. Go for a Gelati, get the swirl and get a cream based ice. And if you take your dog (outside!), they'll give you a doggy custard cone!

I can totally appreciate the Southern home cooking this place serves up, particularly for brunch. The space is purposefully mis-matched, which lends to the charm. Stick to traditional favorites, like pancakes, and you'll be happy that you did.
