As I said, this is something that I picked off the internet so I could have a cute picture that went with the title. I did not design this, and neither did salesforce :) If you click the link you will see the artwork that salesforce chose to go with these weekly blog posts.
I would love to see a diverse/not so pink version of this, but unfortunately I'm not an artist, so I have to wait for someone else to come up with it.
Glad you like the post!

MOM: Mars Orbiter Mission

Yesterday, India's Mangalyaan or Mars Orbiter successfully achieved orbit around the Red Planet, a final act in a nearly year-long cruise through interplanetary space that began last November. It joins an elite group of three other entities in this accomplishment: USA, Russia and the EU. Notably, it is the first country to succeed in a first attempt, and also do it on a shoe string budget. Did you know that the space craft cost less ($75 million) to build than it took to make the movie Gravity ($100 million)? We think the best part is all the delightful photographs showing the many #StemWomen  at mission control in the ISRO office in Bangalore.  Don't you agree this is worth cheering?

Love the sound of this:

"The giant Chinese e-retailer has a reputation for fostering talented women. Lucy Peng and Maggie Wu are stellar examples.

About the only thing Wall Street didn’t hype in the run-up to Alibaba’s initial public offering is the Chinese tech giant’s remarkable track record for populating its top ranks with women.

A third of Alibaba’s 18 co-founders are women, and a similar percentage constitute the company’s powerful new partnership group, which essentially controls the company by nominating a majority of its directors.

Among them are CFO Maggie Wu and Lucy Peng, head of Alibaba’s HR and the affiliated Small and Micro Financial Services Co., which owns Alipay, an online payments system — the top female stars at the company who each have wide influence."

Why You Should Ask For A Raise Or Promotion

Have you ever wondered if women are getting paid less than men? Are you just waiting to ask for a raise you deserve because you want to avoid the pressure of asking for it, or facing the risk of rejection? Are women missing out on opportunities because they just don’t ask?
While we are amidst conversations about gender pay gap and the lack of female leadership, women’s advocates and leaders are missing a simple piece of advice. It’s not just about asking for it, it’s the conversation that follows that actually matters.

Salesforce’s Women in Tech Wednesday roundup.

Here at salesforce.com, we’re passionate about finding ways to support and encourage more women in tech. Part of that is keeping a pulse on what’s happening in the industry as a whole. Every Wednesday, I will post the articles I’m reading that highlight the women in tech movement with the ultimate goal to inspire all of us to do more! Because at the end of the day, we should celebrate all WIT wins and we should all rally together where change still needs to happen.

Google shares their diversity stats.

Google Discusses Our Diversity

Wanted to bring to your attention some data we released today that breaks down how many women and men work at Google, and what ethnicities are represented. I'd love to hear your thoughts on this, and how we might improve these numbers as we work towards a more inclusive industry.
