One of my favorite songs, though I read somewhere that the band really never liked it, which is why it's so hard to find.  And possibly why it isn't so widely known.

Hey--if you put events on my calendar WITHOUT MY EXPLICIT PERMISSION, I am reporting abuse.  I don't know if Google will take notice, but I hope they will.  Spamming other peoples' calendars is not OK.

kthxbye

I no longer get events auto-added to my calendar, I think because of turning off "Automatically add invitations to my calendar."  However, I was still seeing notifications for events I had no interest in; I think the event-runner was just inviting whole circles or something.  I'm not really sure.  There was one person in particular who seemed to do this once a week.  I ended up blocking them.

Great piece on the really important problems in computing.
I just got back from HotOS 2013 and, frankly, it was a little depressing. Mind you, the conference was really well-organized; there were lots of great people; an amazing venue; and fine work by the program committee and chair...

The NY Times gets it.  This is an argument I made a while ago: the intent of Google Broadband isn't to build a new business, it's to force incumbent Internet providers to get themselves out of the slow lane and start investing in infrastructure.  The US isn't going to have a first-class economy with second or third-rate data communications. All sorts of innovative services, from autonomous vehicles to personal cloud computing, will require far higher bandwidth than what's available to consumers now.

I also like the choice of language: oligopolies indeed.  Nails it.

Would love to see that, though I don't know if even GOOG can afford a nationwide rollout. VZN's backing down on FiOS was just disgusting.

One of the greatest bands ever; their best album (IMO); and too many great songs on this album (Quite Rightly So, Magdalene, In Held Twas I, Rambling On) to call this the "best." They're all the best. I've always regretted that I haven't heard Procol Harum live.

Just amazing.

A couple of butterfly pictures from vacation:
Oh, they fooled me. Thought they had fixed the "one at a time" problem.  Here's a second link anyway:
