Why Gas Fill?
The purpose of gas filling is typically to reduce the heat transfer and improve the energy efficiency of the insulating glass unit. Gas filling can also be a means of reducing the sound transfer through an insulating glass unit and improving the acoustical properties.

Heat is transferred through insulating units via radiation, conductive or convective heat transfer routes. The use of low-E (low-emissivity) coatings has dramatically improved the radiation heat transfer through glass by selectively allowing only some types (or wavelengths) of radiation to pass. See Figure 1. The theory behind the low-E coatings is well documented in published literature. read more http://ow.ly/iaCLw

SIGNA SYSTEM is the industry leader in the window retrofit technology for transforming single pane windows to double and triple pane in high rise buildings, skyscrapers, and other large architectural projects. This allows window restoration without any changes to the original glass and window frame.

The SIGNA SYSTEM is a method specifically designed for on-site conversion of single glazed windows to insulating glass. This method saves on project costs, is eco-friendly, and preserves historical buildings with minimal architectural change.

Our window retrofitting and insulating technology has over 30 years of continuous and documented history of installations and projects that are a testimony to the effectiveness of the time-tested SIGNA SYSTEM method.

Architect: Ludwig Mies van der Rohe
Signa System, Inc has been improving on Mies van der Rohe buildings since 1984 in Chicago’s Gold Coast prestigious lakefront. Mies, like many of his post-World War I contemporaries, sought to establish a new architectural style that could represent modern times just as Classical and Gothic did for their own eras. He created an influential twentieth century architectural style, stated with extreme clarity and simplicity. His mature buildings made use of modern materials such as industrial steel and plate glass to define interior spaces. He strove towards an architecture with a minimal framework of structural order balanced against the implied freedom of free-flowing open space. He called his buildings “skin and bones” architecture. He sought a rational approach that would guide the creative process of architectural design. He is often associated with the aphorisms “less is more” http://ow.ly/i6kxj
