I thought you might mean this picture of Remi sweeping dirt out of the road with a branch that he found so that the road would be clean to print on.

Awesome! Now developers can put it anywhere they want and people can play find the button. Yay! UI Consistency is overrated anyway.

So I'm only using +Path on android for the forseeable future, mainly because I am fascinated by the in-palm demonstration of mixed device compat issues. (+val head) The recent update didn't do much for the fixed width problems, and I am realizing that my own efforts to make "separate but equal" UI's is probably functionally demonstrated by this app. It sucks to have to implement iOS/Android/(other android) stuff, but honestly, it doesn't have to be exactly the same.

The path UI makes great (and I mean *great*) use of the concept of the vertical splits (like there's a binding down the center of the screen), and the UI problems all seem to center around that.

This will be going into my new talk on mobile UI design, not to poke fun or criticize, because the goals are still lofty and generally hit, but because it demonstrates why designing for apps is different when you cross platforms, and frankly, its engineering candy - because the problems are hard-ish, but extremely rewarding!

I definitely want to see this talk of yours! I'm fascinated by these kinds of UI differences and how people handle the crazy design challenge of working across platforms too. But um, you kinda know that, huh?

For as excited as I am to write complex Android 4.0 apps and use an Android tablet full-time (iPad's been collecting dust since the tab came home) - I still can't see myself recommending or even using an android phone daily.

I don't know if its the fact that there's only one ICS phone, or that the gingerbread/froyo displays are generally boring, or perhaps its this link.

Samsung had to release an external battery pack on the day that the phone launched cause they knew the battery sucked. Thats just sort of sad, but also sort of funny considering that the display is basically a hi-res cafeteria tray that you can play angry birds on.
Dec. 16, 2011 - Update: As has been pointed out, this doesn't supplement the existing battery, it replaces it in the phone. So you get a longer battery life, but not more

Warhol:DIY on a best of list? Neat!
Cast your mind back to the first camera phone you had - rubbish, wasn't it? Thankfully technology has moved on since then, and the cameras on our phones

An example of how supporting many android screen sizes can be an uphill battle. Fun for designers and developers who are up to the challenge, tho.
