Yesterday's NYT Personal Tech section highlighted the increasing functionality of smartphones within healthcare. While the article clearly noted the limits with the current medical application of the devices, it suggests we are on the cusp of a dramatic increase in the use of smartphone medical apps and related accessories.
Personally, my use extends only so far as an iPhone health & wellness app, MapMyRide+, a handy tool that logs my bike rides. However, I have seen some fantastic explicitly medical iPhone apps showcased at RSNA and HIMSS.
I am interested in hearing your experience using smartphones for medicine and your views on any limits of smartphones' adoption or application within healthcare.
Here is the second installment of the Siemens Diagnostic Imaging Equipment Service Survey: http://conta.cc/wryvy5
Economic and business changes over the past few years have led to significant changes in the way healthcare providers service their diagnostic imaging equipment. For many facilities, these changes have meant significant cost-cutting measures, including reduction in OEM service contracts for older systems and adoption of higher-risk service strategies. Siemens understands these are challenging times and is constantly looking for ways to better support their customers and the healthcare industry at large with flexible solutions.
Please take 3 minutes to fill out this very brief, 8 question survey to help Siemens better serve you: http://conta.cc/wryvy5

No doubt there’s a learning curve when a practice firsts adopts and implements an EMR, just like any type of transformational technology. However once providers get over that initial implementation hump, they can start seeing value not only at the point of care, but can begin to recognize quality improvement in many harder-to-manage aspects of how they care for patients.
To explore these ideas, join us for a free webinar and hear Don McDaniel, CEO Sage Growth Partners and Dr. Mark Dente, Chief Medical Informatics Officer for GE Healthcare discuss the following topics:
• Change management – the cultural shift
• Vendor partner support – training & consulting
• Support the workflow of the organization
• Benefit of an integrated EMR & PM solution
