Next Exit Photography wins Best Wedding Photographer in Los Angeles!

We are so proud, beyond honored, and honestly floored by our recent win of the 2014 California Wedding Day Magazine Best Wedding Photographer in Los Angeles Award.  After shooting weddings for 12 years, Adi and I feel that this award is certainly one of the most significant honors in our entire career.

At a celebration hosted last month by the magazine with over 50 sponsors and along with nearly 1,000 of the cities best wedding professionals, Adi and I took to the stage at the Wilshire Ebell Theater to accept our award in front of a roaring crowd. It was such a rush and seriously felt like winning an Oscar!! Los Angeles is well known for its extremely saturated and competitive wedding photography market, so taking top honors in the Los Angeles wedding photography category was and is a tremendous honor for us.

Being acknowledged by the prestigious California Wedding Day magazine is an additional validation of our dedication to our art as well as to our amazing clients.  We were nominated alongside three other photography teams during a three-week voting period open to the wedding industry and brides. Voters were able to nominate any photographer in the Los Angeles area and more than 5,000 votes were entered in the photography category. WOW!!

“I am so unbelievably blown away by the response that this award has garnered from our peers, friends and clients. It has given me a renewed faith in our approach to our business, art and the way that we treat our family of clients,” said Adi. “It’s not only an honor to be recognized by our peers but it is a testament to our incredible clients and partner wedding planners whose glowing testimonials and constant referrals have been the driving force behind our success for so many years. This award is certainly a highlight of my career,” agrees Cat.

Getting hired as wedding photographers for an +Ojai Valley Inn & Spa  Wedding is like winning the lottery. Aside from being one of our favorite Southern California family vacation getaway spots for our own little brood, it is also one of the most beautiful venues to take pictures. Its Ojai Valley's mountain vistas, rolling hills, eucalyptus groves, Spanish architecture and herb gardens, all so perfectly picturesque, it makes shooting wedding photography an absolute pleasure. Oh, and we love, love, love the light. Magical! When you add that all together, it is no wonder that Lauren and Noah's Ojai Valley Inn wedding was so spectacular. As a side note, Lauren and Noah live in New York City and their wedding took place the weekend of Hurricane Sandy. It was a blessing that so many of their east coast friends and relatives were able to help celebrate the wedding.
Thank you to Lindsey at Magnolia Event Design who coordinated a fantastic wedding, Tenly Erin Young Floral Design, longtime family friends Rabbi Steven Carr Reuben and Cantor Chayim Frenkel and our BFF Tara at Makeup Therapy. A special thanks to Sarah Pugh and the wonderful ladies who manage events at the Ojai Valley Inn. We LOVE YOU! Your amazing efficiency and attention to detail is always superb. Hey Ho, Let’s go!! Cyn, a photographer of all sorts, originally from Plymouth, Minnesota, and Stan , a rocket scientist from Wolverhampton, England, met and fell in love. After several years of dating bliss, they decided on a Rock n’ Roll Wedding for 40 of their closest friends and the best wedding photographer in Los Angeles, eh chem. The day started early. 11am the guests and the groom loaded onto a fully loaded tour bus and headed to the Club Nokia Theater in Downtown Los Angeles. After a fully costumed wedding ceremony a la Princess Bride… “Mawidge is a dweam wiffin a dweam. The dweam of wuv wapped wiffin the gweater dweam of everwasting west. Eternity is our fwiend, wemember that, and wuv wiw fowwow you fowever.” And so on. There was a lot of dancing — bopping up and down — and a lot of Veuve Clicquot poured. The ceremony on the stage at the Club Nokia was the first of its kind, then onto a cocktail hour in the VIP bar, then a hop over to Disney Hall and a jump off to Grauman’s Chinese, back to the Sunset Marquis Hotel for another 5pm cocktail hour and then finally, a full dinner reception by the pool. A day never to forget. I, as their beloved and humble Sunset Marquis Hotel Wedding Photographer, should also mention that staying the hotel were Avril Lavigne and her crew as well as the final 8 from American Idol, all of who made it onto my long lens, despite their best efforts to hide from it. No, you can’t see them. xo

It was a perfect day for a wedding in November, in Pasadena, California. The Langham Huntington Hotel in South Pasadena is the most wonderful backdrop for beautiful and natural wedding photography. The couple was full of love and their families showered them with support. The team of expert vendors were made up of some of our favorites. Wedding coordinator, Naomi Takahashi, owner of DNT Elite Events, is calm and cool. We love working with her and her incredible team! Lisa Cardella from Ixora Floral Studio created stunning centerpieces for the magical Georgian Ballroom. Working with expert Kelly Zhang and her team always ensures that our beautiful bride has the perfect hair and makeup for her entire wedding day. Lastly, lovely Chelsea Rowe, Senior Meetings & Special Events Manager at the Langham Huntington Pasadena, makes everything run smoothly on the wedding day. With 23 acres of meticulously cultivated gardens and historic ballrooms, this iconic landmark hotel is the ideal wedding venue in Southern California. If you are considering this space for your own wedding or event, make sure to check our their BLOG. Langham Huntington Hotel Weddding Photography.

Don’t know why, but I feel like a proud parent (of my husband) when one of our fabulous former brides (Gianelle) writes us a glowing recommendation based on her experience with (Adi) at her wedding. Maija and Matt loved Gianelle’s photos (they were amazing) and a match was made! M+M’s New Year’s Eve wedding at the exquisite Riviera Country Club in Brentwood, CA, was the perfect backdrop for a sunny winter wedding in Southern California. The wedding was designed entirely by the bride with the help of her incredible team of expert wedding vendors. We all worked to get the best Rivera Country Club Wedding Photography ever! We loved working with her amazing bridal party and family. The groom's grandfather preformed the ceremony and the couple serenaded each other with an original song during the reception. One of my favorite bridal party photos (ever) was taken in the foyer of the club… What do you think? The bride and groom requested something special and we obliged. I especially like it when the bridal party are really good sports. They were up for anything. They weren't even drunk...yet. ;)

Michelle and Ben's wedding is coming up fast on us. You would be hard pressed to find a sweeter, kinder couple. Adorable! We loved spending the day with them at LACMA in Los Angeles and we can't wait to shoot all of their wedding at their family home. We love intimate home wedding photography. #lacama #Losangeles #weddingphotographers

I have often said, the most important thing about any photography shoot is time of day and quality of light. You can be in the most beautiful place in the world, but if you are shooting it at noon, you are going to encounter a host of difficulties . In contrast, if you are shooting in an ugly place, but the light is gorgeous, you can get amazing photographs. This is why I always encourage wedding clients to work with their photographers and their wedding coordinators to schedule the best time of day and light for their couple’s portrait on the wedding day.
Luckily for me, the engagement shoot was photographed at the right time of day, in a gorgeous place, and with amazing people. Lea and Nolan, I can’t wait to photograph your wedding this September.
