Hardly a "boutique hotel" but merely an overpriced, junk filled building with a dark, ominous vibe and bagels for breakfast. Upon arriving to our tiny room, adjacent to the tiny bathroom, we quickly discovered that not only were things stained and broken, but that staff had failed to provide a room fan (which we called about in advance and that we later took upstairs by ourselves). In the room, a glass-topped small table sat by the window and when my water bottle rolled off of it, we realized that the table base was missing a spindle. Since the table wasn't useable as it sat, we unscrewed the remaining two spindles to create a flat surface. After check-out, we get a call saying we broke the table and now have to pay for it. I explained that the table was already broken and we just neglected to say anything... mostly because if I was to complain about that, then the list would have gone on to include the stained blanket, dirty walls in the bathroom, shoddy television that would only scroll through half of the channels and the sorry excuse for window shades which flooded our room with sunshine first thing in the morning. Maybe we didn't do ourselves a favor by not saying anything, but to demand $175 for a small side table and to INSIST that two people had checked the room prior, is just bullshit. We collected all of the trash, cleaned any surface we could, and even left the two spindles on the table so the hotel could fix their old, broken furniture. The general manager was an ass on the phone and they will not be getting any more business from us.

I was charged a no show fee for a trip that I believed I had cancelled with Orbitz. Additionally, the confirmation from Orbitz indicated I would be charged a 7.6% tax for a cancel fee but I was actually assessed a tax above 15% for the no show fee from the hotel. My problem with the hotel is the slow response to my request for a full or partial refund of the no show fee. I first called the hotel on June 12 and was told the manager would call me back the following day. When I did not receive a call, I called the hotel on June 13 and was told the manager was on vacation. I received a call from the manager on June 17 who advised that he would look into the situation. I didn't hear from the manager on June 18 so I left a message on June 19. I didn't get a response from the message and left another message on June 20. I finally received a response from the manager on June 24 indicating the no part of the cancellation fee would be refunded. It's a mystery to me why this process took two weeks for a response from the manager. This is my first negative review of any establishment. I would not recommend the hotel based on their handling of this situation.

Great hotel in a great location for a great price! As said in previous reviews, it is not super fancy, but I needed a place to stay for a work convention and this was perfect. I got up every morning, had a delicious breakfast (note to the manager, love the hardboiled eggs. Very few continental breakfasts offer protein) and walked to the PA convention center. I never got my car out of the garage the whole time. I walked to all the sites and restaurants with no problem. If you love old buildings the hotel is super charming, and the rooms are cozy and clean. And you still get a lot of great amenities such as toiletries, a gym, a nice tv, and free wifi! I will stay here again!

Very accommodating no microwave in the room but they will heat it for you at the front desk. Very good neighborhood, lotta gay but still nice clean room hot water and very comfortable bed. I'll go back

This was my first time to Philadelphia and this hotel was perfect. I loved the art on the walls and the coziness of the room. It was immaculate and the staff was outstanding. The breakfast was great and the coffee was delicious. David, at the front desk, is very informative and attentive. Can't wait to return with my husband to stay here and explore Philadelphia.

Nice little hotel in a great part of Philly, you get a great value while still being able to stay in the city. The staff were very nice during my stay, and I felt very comfortable in my room. The hotel is next to quite a few theaters and was about a ten minute walk to the Reading Terminal Market, so there is plenty to do nearby. Overall, I had a great stay and would recommend this place to anyone looking to stay in Philadelphia. I know this is going to be my first choice for a hotel next time I'm visiting the city.
