You knew it was coming ever since you saw Will Smith face-off with robots gone rogue... OSHA and NIOSH are working on workplace safety guidelines for employees who work with or near robots. Don't say Will Smith and I didn't warn you.

We're hard-coded to respect those who take big risks, correlating it with extreme courage. Cleaning windows on the 80th floor without fall protection is the modern-day equivalent of running at beasts armed only with a spear. But bold does not equal smart, and history is littered with massacres of the brave and defiant.

This is a very insightful article on the premise that being safe is dull.

Buster Keaton, known for his stoic expressions while enacting stunts and gags, brought his unique style to a 30-minute safety film he made for the Construction Safety Association of Ontario. It was his last film.

The two biggest OSHA fines of all time? BP for 81 million and BP for 21 million. Of course you aren't out crashing oil tankers, but when you do spill chemicals, here are six things you need to do.  http://www.duralabel.com/duranews/2013/apr/6-things-you-need-do-when-chemicals-spill

Workplace safety is subjective. Our expectations of what are reasonable work conditions are based on what companies typically provide in our area, and laws are set up based on our cultural expectations. Apple says they're improving workplace conditions for their workers, but existing worker conditions seem pretty appalling by our standards.

I read this story and it really stuck with me... read about the man who was engulfed in two fireballs and survived!

If you haven't heard, OSHA inspected Ashley Furniture and fined them 1.76 million. The interesting twist is that Ashley released a statement that says "Ashley strongly disagrees with each and every opinion of the agency." Read OSHA's findings and Ashley's response.
