Yummy and perfect and amazing and a bargain!!!! $1 bloody marys that are perfect, and great food from greater staff!!! The chick (owner?) behind the bar and running the show was a dream and knows how to do things--thanks for the perfect, yummy, boozy, let's-go-drunk-shopping-we're-on-vaycay brunch!!! Also perfect, the music mix drifting out of the speakers at the bar--nice touch.

I'd really like to rate The Raymond higher. Its atmosphere and historic location is truly unique and enticing. Their cocktail program is innovative (the Cedar House?) and rather tasty while the service overall has been friendly in my experience. The big issue has been the changes to the overall menu and happy hour menu over the past few years. Prices, offerings, portions, etc. all seem to fluctuate to the point that I'm not sure what to expect when I go and often staff appears confused as well. It's an issue enough that it has prevented me from returning outside of going in for cocktails.

Best restaurant experience that I've had in Pasadena! Yes, Pasadena has burned me a few times. Often good but rarely spectacular. Raymond Restaurant is a former caretaker's cottage for the Raymond hotel that has gone through many incarnations and now is a cozy restaurant that makes you feel like you're in someone's home when you make it inside. Tucked away about a mile away from Old Town Pasadena, you'll have to take a U ey to pull in and when you leave you'll be driving through what looks to be a power plant or water treatment facility. They've recently expanded their space to include more patio seating and the ambiance is solid. Great customer service and really friendly (and hot) staff. I was late for my reservation and was just missing closing time for the kitchen when they took us in and I'm thankful they did. Don't stick to wine or beer, take advantage of the cocktail bar! Thoughtfully made prohibition era themed drinks were wonderful so give them a few minutes to craft them. Served with oversized crystal clear ice cubes and a sprig of rosemary, the Huckleberry was unbelievably fresh and had a great taste profile. Even better, through some wicked bartender magic, the ice barely melted keeping the drink cool and not watering it down as I neared the end. To be sure to keep my drinking hand full, I was sure to order a second round within my first few sips of the first. When it came to food everything was delectable. Both the pork belly and lamb were melt in your mouth and fall off the bone good. The crowd pleaser was definitely the scallops and I knew as soon as I walked in the restaurant since the smell of scallops permeated the air. You can never go wrong with scallops and mushrooms paired with my new favorite green, pea tendrils. I've recently learned that pea tendrils while looking like spinach taste like peas, win/win!

Exquisite cocktails and exceptional service. This is by far one of the best places for fine dining. The portions are on the small side, but when the taste is this good, you don't need large portions. Mostly, I love this place because I experienced some very special occasions here. The waitstaff is excellent and will help you create a very memorable moment that you won't soon forget. **Make a reservation.

I have loved the Raymond for 25 years. I brought my husband up there from Orange County - hadn't been there for four years, and was surprised by all the changes. I had reserved a table for my husband's 55th birthday, and told them when we made our reservation. I thought perhaps they might do something special, like a dessert with a candle. That's always a nice gesture, and Parkway Grill went all out when we went there last year with a birthday appetizer and full size dessert. I don't expect this, but it's just good customer service. We didn't get any acknowledgment of this special occasion last night. So yes, I was disappointed. Food was great, but I miss the old menu. The music wasn't really environment-appropriate for such a cozy restaurant. I don't like rock-n-roll when I'm eating by candlelight. However, the servers were very polite and accommodating.

I've only been to the back bar, Bar 1886, and it's my favorite place to get fancy drinks when I don't want to go downtown / echo park / silver lake anywhere further west (gross). Typical LA cocktail prices, and the bartenders come up with such delicious and seasonal drinks. strong drinks, outdoor seating, good times with your friends.

The building is a wonderful old Craftsman-style house. Fantastic place for a special-occasion meal. I wish they still served afternoon tea, though!
