The technology powering the Internet of Things is hardly perfected. There will be bumps and failures along the way and some will be highlighted more than others, for a host of reasons, as I wrote about here a while back. One of the latest - and this one is getting worldwide attention - involves the failure of an Internet-connected automatic pet feeder.

First let me say - I HATE shopping, so wasn't looking forward to doing this but I needed some new clothes. Went to Catherine's as a first-time customer, had a store representative who was very helpful in finding clothing options and bringing things to the changing room. That part of the experience was much better than expected. Was very disappointed in the selection; I'm tall - pants were not available in Tall sizes. There were no "professional" options, no suits, no dresses for the office, no nice dress slacks, no cotton blouses, that sort of thing. And most clothing selections were made of different knit materials - very nice for lots of "give" but terrible if you don't want them clinging to every curve of your body. Definitely need to do work on the product assortment that they carry. When I went to check out, one of their credit card machines had broken so all customers who wanted to use a credit card (90% of us) had to wait in one line - that was lots of fun - NOT. And because of that, they piled all our purchases together on counters so we didn't have to hold them (trying to be helpful), unfortunately, I didn't notice til after I got home that several items that were in my pile to purchase, never got included when they rang me up. While I'm glad that I didn't pay for them and not get them, they were items I wanted and didn't get, and now I have to go get them somewhere else because I'm not inclined to drive the 40 minutes it would take me to go back to Catherine's to get them again. Overall, a disappointing experience, but again, a very helpful sales person who did the best she could with what she had to work with.
