Announcement of PESSAT-2018 Rank List & Felicitation of Toppers

At the outset, it gives us immense pleasure to announce the rank list of PESSAT – 2018 entrance test conducted for admission to B.Tech programs of PES University for the academic year 2018-19. PES University successfully conducted PESSAT 2018 during April 20 – May 10, 2018.

PESSAT-2018 witnessed a large turnout of candidates to take the test. Over 16,000 students from across the country applied for B.Tech Programs offered by the University. PESSAT-2018 was conducted at 37 centers across India.

Dr. M R Doreswamy, Hon’ble Chancellor of PES University and Founder, PES Institutions declared the ranks of PESSAT-2018 on May 21, 2018 at 11:30 AM. He also felicitated the top 3 rankers with appreciation certificates in the presence of their parents, the press and the media.

The first rank was bagged by Mr. R Muralekrishnan and the second rank was bagged by Mr. Nandagopal Vidhu, both being the students of National Public School, Indiranagar, Bangalore. The third rank was bagged by Mr. Pranav Kasetty, student of Chethana PU College, Yelahanka New Town, Bangalore. The first round of PESSAT counselling will be held on June 2nd & 3rd, 2018 at PES University for the selection of seats of all B.Tech programs (CSE, ECE, ME, EEE, CE and BT).

Samarapana: The pride in running with Jawans

It was with great pride and immense gratitude that 3100 participants joined 500 Jawans of various regiments in 5K, 10K and 21K run. Samarpana 2018, a unique initiative had 1500 students of PES University running for a cause. The event highlighted the sacrifices of our martyrs and honored them and their families. The event set up a unique platform for students to interact and pay tributes to the men in uniform. The proceeds from the event were handed over to the families of the martyrs. The team also organized events like medical camp, legal help sessions, career counseling for children, women empowerment, city tour and a cultural evening for the families of the martyrs. Scion of the Mysore royal family, Yaduveer Wadiyar honored the families of the valiant martyrs. PES University Chancellor Dr. M R Doreswamy was present on the occasion.

Shri Prakash Javadekar, Hon'ble Minister for HRD @ PESU for interactive meet with teachers

Shri Prakash Javadekar, Minister, HRD visited PES University for an interactive meeting on 07/05/2018 at 4:00 PM. All the faculty of PES institutions participated in the meeting presided by Dr. M R Doreswamy, Chancellor , PES University and in the august presence of Prof. D Jawahar, Pro Chancellor, PES University.

Shri Prakash Javadekar gave an overview of government’s initiatives, new programs that have been implemented and working well to improve the dispensation of education in India.

He informed that Swayam program that includes course work, lectures and materials freely available for 1032 courses; gyan program in which 800 professors from 62 different countries helping in teaching and delivering lectures; a hackathon program in which good number of problem statements work with professors who mentor them for 3 months and as of now 54 solutions are at final stages of development. While stressing research and innovation he said that prosperity by innovation is best, He requested institutes that are known for quality education should help other institutions. Teacher training is also important step so that teachers to be agents of change and good teachers change society. While voting Person, Party and Principle (3 P’s) should get priority.

Shri Javadekar ji also took questions from audience and gave answers during the interaction session and also requested to give constructive suggestions that will be definitely considered and help change for the good.

Dream for every engineer is to create something of his own. Team Enigma the collegiate automotive club of PESIT South Campus, engineering college at Electronic City, built three cars this year. One was an ATV (All-Terrain Vehicle), Hybrid car (runs on electricity and fuel) and a GO KART to represent PESIT-BSC at various National events.

The BAJA division of Team Enigma, built an ATV which represented the college at the SAEINDIA BAJA 2018 event at Pithampur. BAJA is an internationally recognized event. The event is evaluated rigorously by eminent industrialists and experts from SAE on team engineering, design, marketing and management abilities. The Team qualified within the 100 teams out of 400 teams competing for the final endurance race. The final endurance race tests is all about the track event where the vehicles are tested to extreme limits on a challenging terrain. The Team managed to last for entire 4 hours of the endurance race, making it among the few to achieve this feat. Finally, team finished 2nd in the city and 57 place over all.

The hybrid vehicle runs on both a 300 cc IC engine and a 2kW motor. As the world is moving towards hybrid technologies, these college students are making a mark in that direction. The hybrid vehicle is able to achieve speeds of up to 65kmph and boosts of various electronic innovative features. The Team also took their car to ISIE Hybrid Vehicle Challenge, held at the Buddh International Circuit, Noida, where they stood 12th overall on a national level.

The Team Enigma was sponsored by PESIT Management and also our partners from industry include Tata Motors, Bosch, Brady Co others.

The team also participated at International Series of Karting held at Vizag. It was an event where the team was supposed to design and build the GO-Kart. The team participating for the first time won best driver award where our driver Raghavendra Basmi demonstrated extreme caliper and also the team won star of the event award.

The events were held in the second and third week of January. The Team had worked on the projects for almost a year. Himanshu Kumar and Anirudh Kashi were the captains for Baja and HVC respectively. The team was guided by faculty advisors; Dr. S V Satish and Mr. Varun Manujunath. The team mentor Dr. S. V. Satish said, “I am delighted by the Team’s performance this year. The team managed to handle the tough tasks of finding sponsors and developing the technical skills required.” Dr. J Surya Prasad , Principal and Director quoted clubs like Enigma encourages interdisciplinary concepts amongst the students and prepare them for real world problems when they enter modern industries.

The team said “‘Never give up’ was the main motive of our team. Despite many hurdles we worked hard and it was not just about the event, it was the journey. The biggest achievement of the Team was completing the endurance.”

The Team is looking forward for an even greater standing in future events, and shows no signs of losing momentum.

Third edition of the PES sports magazine released

The department of physical education and sports organized inter department sports festival and winners were awarded in a ceremony held at PES Cricket Stadium on April 23. Pro-Chancellor, Prof D Jawahar released the third edition of the PES sports magazine on the occasion.

Award for Smart Shopping Trolley designed by students of PES Polytechnic

The innovative shopping trolley impressed the panel of judges to win the first place from among 120 projects submitted by participants from all over the state. The state level technical project competition and exhibition, held at Visvesvaraya Museum was organized by Government of Karnataka for students of engineering. Dr. M R Doreswamy, Chancellor, PES University appreciated the concept and creative thinking of students and recommended it for further development at Crucible of Research and Innovation (CORI) at PES University.

World Glaucoma Week observed at PESIMSR

Glaucoma is considered to be a leading cause of blindness in the elderly. Early detection can prevent additional vision loss. A rally to mark the World Glaucoma Week saw active participation of undergraduate medical students in a rally from CI office to UHTC in Kuppam. Dr Gupta, Professor in department of ophthalmology, addressed the public and explained the precautions and simple steps to be taken which can make a difference. Screening for glaucoma and other eye complaints was carried out by post graduate students of ophthalmology.

At the inter-collegiate competition for hotel management colleges prizes were won by Franklin and Avinash in Photography, Apeksha and Aishwarya in Face Painting, Dhanyajeeth and Tanzil and Gaurav in Entrepreneurship Challenge and Ghaghan was adjudged Best Manager.

Soldrit was in the media recently as a fast growing independent repair service that provides repair services for multi-brand products. Soldrit was founded in 2015 by Deepak Bhatt and Kunal Bhatnagar, college batchmates in Electronics and Communication Engineering from PESIT, Bengaluru.
