Hi everyone, I just wanted to send a follow up reminder on this message I sent out back in November – South Dakota ISSI resource sharing partners are NOT on the SCLS/Minitex courier route – items being sent to these South Dakota libraries must be sent via mail.

Please let me know if you have any questions about this or would like to join ISSI, or change your ISSI configuration.
We’re excited to share that beginning next week, ISSI participants will have 19 new resource sharing partners in South Dakota:

ABOIL Sully Area Library
ASCIL Alcester-Hudson/Alcester Public Library
BFPIL Belle Fourche Public Library
CUSIL Custer County Library
FLAIL Moody County Resource Center
IREIL Irene-Wakonda High School/Community Library
LVEIL Edith B. Siegrist Vermillion Public Library
PCLIL Potter County Free Library
RCLIL Redfield Carnegie Library
RPLIL Rawlins Municipal Library
SGCIL Sinte Gleska University Library
TRVIL Tri-Valley School Library
MMCIL Mount Marty College Library
MPLIL Madison Public Library
NSUIL Beulah Williams Library, Northern State University
SDSIL South Dakota State Library - borrowing library
SPFIL Grace Balloch Memorial Library (Spearfish)
STGIL Sturgis Public Library
YCLIL Yankton Community Library

Please note that these libraries are NOT part of SCLS or Minitex delivery, and items being sent to them must be sent via mail.

Requests from these libraries may reach Wisconsin ISSI participants as soon as this week, and Z-Targets for these partners will appear in your list of ISSI Resource Sharing Catalogs next week.

For those unfamiliar with ISSI, it stands for Inter System Sharing Initiative, and it is an opt-in feature that allows for resource sharing between different implementations of Auto-Graphics’ SHAREit platform, which WISCAT is based on. For more information on ISSI, please see the ISSI Details and Best Practices document here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1h2eok7oMuWwl2KlTR_f-HjS4D671kZHtUSX5AcjW-9U/edit?usp=drive_web&ouid=104455739433634243538. If your library is interested in participating in ISSI, please contact me!

A couple reminders for you all before the new year:

As the holiday season gets into full swing, you may find yourself temporarily unable to process requests due to holidays, vacations, staff shortages, etc. If you will be unable to process requests, please use the Holiday List to temporarily suspend lending service so requests do not expire at your location without a response.

To update your Participant Record with a Holiday:
• Log into WISCAT
• Click on Staff Dashboard to access the administrative modules
• In the ILL Admin menu choose Maintain Participant Record
• Click on the Holiday List link or scroll down to that section in the record
• Enter the Start and End dates using the format MM/DD/YYYY
• Click the Submit button in the upper right corner of the screen

It is suggested you begin your holiday suspension the day before the last work day you will be gone. This ensures that any requests caught in between the current day and the holiday may be moved along while staff is still available. Please check Pending requests at the end of your work day. NOTE: Your staff and patrons can continue to request items while the suspension is in effect.

Also, we recently heard from a resource sharing partner who uses OCLC, asking for us to send a reminder to include all necessary paperwork when returning ILL requests. Not all WISCAT resource sharing partners actually use the WISCAT platform, so it is important to check the paperwork that comes with your requested items. If the paperwork requests that you include that same paperwork when returning the item, please do so!

Thanks, and happy holidays!

We have heard from a few WISCAT libraries that some of their patrons erroneously received overdue notices from WISCAT for requests that have already been returned and completed. Per Auto-Graphics, the error was on their end, and shouldn’t continue to occur. If you receive word from a patron that they received such a notice, please let them know they can safely ignore the message if the item is not actually overdue.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you or your patrons. Please let us know if you have any questions. Please also note that you can edit the text of your patron notifications, and edit whether or not WISCAT is sending notifications to your patrons, by logging in to your staff WISCAT account and modifying the Patron Notifications section in your Participant Record.

It’s time to order a 2019 WISCAT license! A license remains $200 per calendar year per library code for access to all WISCAT functionality. To learn more about WISCAT, visit our WISCAT Licensing page at https://dpi.wi.gov/rl3/wiscat/licensing. To place an order, please use the online order form at https://apps6.dpi.wi.gov/CRMPortalMVC.

Please make note of the following:

• The new WISCAT licensing form auto-populates some information for you. Type your library code or library name, and the form should auto-populate your library’s address if you’ve previously had a WISCAT license.
• The form auto-generates an invoice for you and sends it to the email address you provide. Please print your invoice and remit it with payment to the DPI address on the invoice. Invoices will not be mailed to individual libraries.
• If you are purchasing multiple licenses at once, you will need to submit the form for each individual license. However, you may use one single check to cover all licenses.
• Entities representing a legally constituted county library AND acting as an ILL Clearinghouse qualify for alternative pricing, as in past years. If this applies to you, please contact us directly via email to place your order.

As in previous years, purchase orders cannot be accepted on DPI’s end, but if your business office requires one you may enter your purchase order number in the form for the convenience of your local business office.

Contact us if you have any questions regarding WISCAT licensing at dpirllill@dpi.wi.gov or 888.542.5543.

It’s almost time to order a 2019 WISCAT license! Look for another message in the coming week or so with the link to the new licensing form, and a description of some small changes to this year’s licensing process. Note that the link to the licensing form (which is not yet live) will be different this year, so if you bookmarked the old licensing form, please delete your bookmark.

WISCAT licenses will remain $200 per library code for access to all WISCAT functionality through 2019. To learn more about WISCAT, visit our WISCAT Licensing page at https://dpi.wi.gov/rl3/wiscat/licensing.

There is a new document available for WISCAT users in the ILL section of the Documentation Google folder, titled ILL - Blank & Multi-Copy Requests. This document describes the scenarios for using the blank or multi-copy request features, as well as how to use them.

As a reminder, this folder is accessible in the menu bar when logged into a WISCAT staff account. If you're looking for instructions or information on a topic that isn't covered in the Documentation folder, please contact us through the WISCAT Support form at https://dpi.wi.gov/rl3/resources/resource-sharing/contact-us.

Some WISCAT-adjacent news -- DPI is signing contracts for all but two of the 13 separate electronic Collections included in the recent Request For Bid procurement process for BadgerLink resources. If interested, Public, school, or academic libraries may collaborate to identify a municipally-funded fiscal agent to purchase those two other Collections.

See the link below for more details.
