Possibly the best Italian food known to mankind. How'd I discover this unique eatery? My Mom and I love Italian food. OK, so does my brother and we found this place at the NY NY Resort and Casino. And when we headed back to CA, we found out there was a location right here in Pasadena. The parking lot is nice and it's a bit walk from the parking lot to the restaurant. The wait is so-so. Yet, the food is incredible. The signature dessert of IL Fornaio is the the tiramisu. Many restaurants have claimed that their tiramisu is the best. Yet, no one has been able to match the taste of this tiramisu. Nevertheless, when I come here; i order the seafood linguine. It comes with clams, scallops, and shrimps with alfredo sauce. It's a very nice dish. For an appetizer, I will definitely order a pizza. The ambience is quite nice and romantic. The dress-code is casual, but for any italian restaurant, I am dressing in slacks and a polo shirt(black).

IL Fornaio is the ONLY place to eat Italian food in Pasadena. The food is incredible. Great staff! Fast service. Can't ask for anything better than that.

Carpachio was disgusting. Pre plated and a weird color. Tomato sauce on my pasta tasted tinny like it has been stored too long in a metal container. also the basil on it was black and tasted like it had gone bad. The waiter never asked why I did not eat it...just took it away after asking if I was done.

Came here with a large group of 20+ for a weekday lunch. Our table would outnumber all the other patrons and servers here combined. There seemed to be about 3 servers helping us for this meal. There is a nice private-ish room where you can host a party as big as ours. Other than that there is a large dining room area and a roomy patio for outdoor dining. All above are pluses, but if only the food and service were better. -=- Risotto Con Prosciutto e Funghi-=- $17. It wasn't a cheap lunch, but this place is all about fancy. The risotto was creamy and flavorful as risotto should be. The prosciutto was pretty scarce in this dish as was the mushrooms. It's not necessarily a bad thing since, this usually gives way to the risotto cream and parmesan flavor, but still was a bit too grainy for my palate. If you want bang for your buck here, get the Calzone. Pretty humongous for only $12. So, I'm pretty forgiving when a waiter accidentally forgets a request. I'll remind them and hope for the better. If that fails, I'll ask another person. Now that it's apparent that I'm pretty thirsty, I would hope to get my drink refill sooner than later. So, he comes by again and tells me that my drink refill is on the way. Check comes. 10 minutes later, still no drink refill. I stare at the guy and wonder how he could forget again when over half my table already has left. I believe this is the case of auto-gratuity apathy. I really wanted to speak to a manager, but this was a sensitive work lunch so I dare not cause a scene. Looks like I'm only coming here for coffee from now on.

Included the tip on the credit card. Waiter said that doesn't get charged so we (party of 5) also left cash. Ended up paying the tip twice. Will NOT be going back there.

Il Fornaio is simply one of the finest Italian eateries not only in the Pasadena, but I would venture to guess, all of greater Los Angeles as well. The staff was friendly and well-educated, both in the fine dishes that are on their menu, as well in fine wines and liquors. And the food was some of the best I've eaten in the area, with my personal recommendation coming from the thin-crust, housemade pizza. I liked the Margherita, with my companion enjoying the Pizza Cristina. Overall, I'd recommend this to any couple looking for a fine night out, or even just some friends looking for some food.

Great Italian restaurant. Good for taking romantic dates or casual dining. It is slightly hidden in the back alleys of downtown Pasadena. they have variety of Italian dishes and deserts. Their bread is pretty good too.
