Linux News Here - This just goes too far.....

Measures in the Investigatory Powers Bill will place in law a requirement on tech firms and service providers to be able to provide unencrypted communications to the police or spy agencies if requested through a warrant.
Companies such as Apple, Google and others will no longer be able to offer encryption so advanced that even they cannot decipher it when asked to under the Investigatory Powers Bill

There are other ways to make things work right... They just cost more money to implement... That's what it really comes down to. Then again, doesn't everything these days.

I'm having an issue and it may be Lollipop (Android 5.0) specific, but I don't currently have a device that isn't running Lollipop to test with.  I'm using version 2.24.2 (build 359) and I'm having an issue with the metadata sync via Bluetooth.  The artist displays "No Title" for every podcast, whereas it used to display the title of the podcast.  A more important issue though is that the playback time doesn't update.  This causes a problem when playing at a custom speed.  The playback time does update when pausing and unpausing, but never updates during normal playback.  The problem is that if I try to seek forwards or backwards, it starts to seek from the time displayed on the Bluetooth connected device (car stereo) instead of the current time of the real playback.  For instance, if I am playing back a podcast that is set at 2x speed and I've been listening for 5 minutes, the real playback position in the podcast will be 10 minutes.  If I then try to seek forward, the seeking will begin at the 5 minute playback position, which is actually rewinding 5 minutes from my current listening position.  As a work around, I can pause first which then syncs the time, so seeking will work correctly. Has anyone else seen this issue?

I checked with my wife's Nexus 5 and got the same results. I did notice that if I seek from the phone, the playback time on the stereo is updated. I know that it used to work fine with older versions of Podcast Addict on Kit Kat. I didn't notice the issue until I switched to Lollipop, so that's why I'm leaning towards some API change. I recall on previous versions that the playback time would be updated every ten seconds or so. When playing at a custom speed, the playback time on the stereo would get behind and then be corrected (skip ahead). And I know the artist display worked correctly before as well. The artist display works correctly in the Google Play Music app, but I can't check the alternate play speeds in that app since it doesn't offer that option. Let me know if there is anything else I can check.

Bitten hamburgers never spoil, they just dry away.

This Fil-O-Fish was bought at McDonald's on 16 April 2015.
The right picture was taken on 12 December 2015.
I bit it in order to make it rot even more easily with my saliva.
It does't spoil at all after 8 months, and odor-free. :)

It's starting to get scary.  Before long, no one will be able to decide for themselves what is right for them.
