Quite often JPQL is not powerful enough to perform the queries we need in real world projects. In general, this is not an issue because #JPA allows us to perform native SQL queries and call stored procedures.
The only downside is, that these queries return a List of Object[] instead of the mapped entities and value objects we want to work with. Result set mappings provide a nice way to define the required mappings.

SQL result set mappings provide a nice way to map the List returned by native queries in JPA. Lets have a look at some basic ones.

This is my second post on Entity Graphs, one of the features introduced with JPA 2.1. The first post described the usage of named entity graphs. These can be used to define a graph of entities and/or attributes at compile time that shall be fetched with a find or query method. Dynamic entity graphs do to …

The new #Java 8 Date and Time API solved lots of existing problems but also introduced a new one. There is no real support for LocalDate and LocalDateTime in #JPA. If you don't want to store your date in a BLOB (you really shouldn't), you need to provide a mapping for these classes.

#JavaEE
The LocalDate and LocalDateTime classes are not supported by JPA and Hibernate. This can be changed by implementing an attribute converter for them.

Hi,

I am currently preparing an online training about #Hibernate performance tuning. To create the best training and to make sure that you get the most out of it, I prepared a few questions to learn more about you and the kind of performance problems you are facing. You really help me a lot, if you take a few minutes to answer the following 5 questions.

Thanks!
