I love how The Weather Channel has been bashing Directv over the past few days. It's hilarious reading all the comments they're showing from people complaining that Directv will be shutting the channel off.
This is the most likely scenario:
Comcast owns NBC Universal, NBC Universal owns The Weather Channel. Their contract is up and Comcast wants more money to show their channel. Directv doesn't want to pay what they're asking. It's a contract dispute which happens all the time.
I lost G4 a couple years ago because of a contract dispute. I also lost Versus, a.k.a. NBC Sports Universal, a few weeks before the NHL season started about a month after I signed up with Directv. That channel came back on opening day, while I'm still without G4.
It's all about money, and I'll probably end up paying more each month when they reach terms because of it.
End of line....
