#NationalNGOSuccessStories‬

#NationalNGO   was contacted on 25th December, 2014 about a 6 month old baby who was suffering from Critical congenital heart disease (CCHD) and recurrent spells. CCHD can encompass abnormalities in the rhythm of the heart, as well as a wide array of structural heart problems. These problems can range from mild (never requiring cardiac surgery), to severe (requiring multiple different stages of open heart surgeries). CCHD can involve abnormal or absent chambers, holes in the heart, abnormal connections in the heart, and abnormalities in the function or squeeze of the heart. Sushant seemed healthy at first but eventually, his body started turning pale and his mother complained that he had poor sucking habit. The total cost of the surgery that was to be performed on Sushant was Rs. 25,000 which was taken care off by the organization. Sushant came out as a winner after a long surgery. Sushant is now more than two years old with a healthy beating heart!

44 year old male Ratan Singh lost his lungs and corpulmonale due to Tuberculosis depriving his family of all the basic necessities of life. Tuberculosis is a fatal, infectious disease caused by various strains of mycobacteria, usually Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Tuberculosis typically attacks the lungs, but can also affect other parts of the body. It is spread through the air when people who have an active TB infection cough, sneeze, or otherwise transmit respiratory fluids through the air. His was a severe case of Tuberculosis.
Post his treatment, he was supposed to rely on an oxygen concentrator for the rest part of his life. An oxygen concentrator is a device which concentrates the oxygen from a gas supply (typically ambient air) to supply an oxygen enriched gas mixture. A family which couldn’t afford a decent meal even once a day was supposed to buy an Oxygen Concentrator worth Rs. 44,000. #NationalNGO  ordered the latest version of O2 Concentrator Model Vision Air with all its standard accessories and got it delivered to the patient's residence. Ratan Singh sure gets his oxygen from the concentrator but really breathes when he sees the love his family showers on him every day!

One fine morning, 50 year old Suresh was reaching work after saying goodbye to his children at home. He used to cross the railway tracks every day in order to reach work. He was crossing the tracks like he used to everyday when he lost his balance and his feet got stuck in the railway tracks. Despite his repeated efforts, he couldn’t pull himself out before the train hit him. Owing to the speed of the train, even the driver couldn’t stop it in time which ultimately led to Suresh losing both his legs in this accident. The family was in shambles and couldn’t even afford a wheelchair. This case was brought to #NationalNGO   the doctors who amputated Suresh’s legs and the Organisation delivered a wheelchair that cost Rs. 3600 within the next few days. The wheelchair enables him to reach his workplace and do most of his daily chores thus making him sufficiently independent

Sattar Khan was a 60 year old male with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) because of which he was facing a lot of difficulty on breathing on his own and so he needed domiciliary O2 constantly with him to help him breathe. He was under treatment at the Lady Hardinge Hospital, Delhi and was referred to the #NationalNgo‬  in 2014. He needed financial assistance for treating his condition as he and his wife were economically unstable and had no proper source of income. His oxygen cylinder cost around Rs. 6,665/- and this amount was donated by #NationalNgo

Amil was very pale when he was brought to Dr. B.R.A. Institute Rotary Cancer Hospital at AIIMS. After conducting a series of tests, Dr Sameer Bakshi told this 9 year old’s parents that he was suffering from acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and an abnormality on his MLL gene, commonly seen in infants with leukemia. Acute myeloid leukemia is a cancer of the myeloid line of blood cells, characterized by the rapid growth of abnormal white blood cells that accumulate in the bone marrow and interfere with the production of normal blood cells. Amil’s parents couldn’t afford the cost of the surgery, which was a massive sum of Rs. 250,000. #NationalNgo  was acquainted with this case and the organization ensured that no stone was left unturned in saving the child’s life. Amil is a very healthy and happy boy today who spends his time playing with his brothers and sisters.
