Hi everyone,

On Oct 7th, I'm running the San Jose Rock n’ Roll Mini Marathon as a member of Team Cure CMD. I'm looking forward to a fun run with friends and coworkers, but it also breaks my heart to participate. My coworker Eunice's 6-year-old daughter Sophie Kim is battling congenital muscular dystrophy (CMD), which currently has no cure or treatment. Children with CMD are born with serious muscle weakness, and their muscles break down faster than they can repair or grow.  Some children are never able to walk; those that do lose this ability over time.  Sophie started walking at age 2 but lost this ability before she reached the age of 5.  The disease is life limiting, and many children do not live long enough to make it to college.

Sophie is an adorable, happy, and wonderful little girl full of personality who dreams of becoming a pop star.  This may be the best rendition of Call Me Maybe I've ever heard :) Sophie singing call me maybe. This is a heart-wrenching video of how CMD affected Sophie back when she was still able to walk: Sophie - Cure CMD

All proceeds from the mini marathon will go to Cure CMD (, a 501(c)(3) non-profit and the only organization in the world working to find a cure for the CMDs.  My goal is to raise at least $500. Any amount you are able to provide will go a long way towards helping to find a cure for kids like Sophie.
To donate, please click on this link, hit the “Donate Now” button, and fill in the necessary info.  Please don’t forget to click on my name under “Which San Jose marathon runner would you like to sponsor?” (I'm listed as “Amy Wu”):
Your donation is 100% tax deductible and you will receive a tax deductible receipt.

Thank you so much!
