The renovation seems to have done wonders for this hotel. Good room with lots of outlets, a microwave, and a mini fridge. Great service - everyone was very nice and helpful. Plus just a short walk to the University or Pearl Street (or a longer walk to the big mall/ East Boulder). Also a small continental breakfast is just nice to have. Minus one star because the place is loud. Whether it is street noise (you can request a room away from the street if they have space) or your neighbors - it seems like the walls are a bit thin.

The University Inn was great! We were a little skeptical because a few of the older reviews were pretty bad; however, the Inn must have done a renovation because the rooms are great! The furniture looks new and everything was extremely clean. The bathrooms were spacious, clean, and very well done. The bed and pillows were comfortable and, again, clean. And AMAZING location if you want to walk to Pearl street. I was extremely pleased with our stay. The staff was helpful and kind. My only complaint was that the complimentary breakfast wasn't great.

Professional staff. I'm not picky about things looking perfect or fancy, so if that's high on your list of priorities you probably should wait until they're done renovating. WAY better than any of the other inn's around boulder street for this price. Walking distance to Pearl street, the library, UC campus, and the west end trails that have a great view of Pearl street.

Single Queen $86 including tax (Dec. 2010). It's right by a busy street (Broadway) so it is important to choose a room that faces perpendicular to the street. We stayed in room 206 and it was MUCH quieter than room 115. In room 115 the sound from the busses roaring by was astounding (it reflects off the walls of the two wings of the hotel and focusses it on the first floor rooms facing Broadway). The showerhead was great in room 206 and the bed was comfortable (no springs digging into your hip for side sleepers). The outlets were so old that we could not plug in our PowerBook G4 supply so we had to rig up a way to make it stay plugged in. Also, the heater (Carrier 52FEC310301AA) was amazingly noisy in both rooms 115 and 206. It put out an annoying middle C-ish hum that then faded into a breathy whistle at A or high A pitch and then back to a hum again all night long. I had to wear my earplug to sleep and I'm hard of hearing to boot. The internet connection was good though it sometimes had longish delays responding to inputs. Continental breakfast consisted of cheerios, corn flakes, milk, OJ, AJ, donuts, pastrties, blueberry bagels, yogurt with aspartame, coffee, and tea? Short walk to Himalayas Restaurant with very good chicken tikka masala and very good tap water.

My parents and I have stayed at the Boulder University Inn four times and thoroughly loved it each time. I go to CU, and when we first came up to Boulder to check out the university we decided to stay at the Boulder University Inn because of it's proximity to the university and their low rates. The manager, Guiseppe, was not just always polite, but would go out of his way to ensure that we had everything we needed and to help if help was needed. My dad had booked a room with a single king-sized bed, so when Guiseppe saw that there were three of us he had an inflatable air mattress put in the room and said that if it was not to my comfort they also had a roll-out bed. In January when we came up for my move in we forgot to bring a snow scraper, so when it snowed quite heavily and I asked Guiseppe if they had a snow scraper I could use to clear the car, he came out and swept and scraped the snow off of my car himself, insisting that he do it himself and that it was no trouble. The rooms were great. Both the standard and newly renovated rooms were equally as comfortable an accommodating, and when we needed an extra chair and I went down to the front desk to ask to borrow one from the eating area, the man who took the evening shifts at the front desk brought the chair up before I had a chance to pick one up myself. The overall desire to help guests and no hesitation to go out of one's way to do so was the highlight of our experience staying there. Even now if I run into Guiseppe when I walk downtown from campus and pass the hotel, he is always happy and polite, asking how I am doing and wishing my family well. My parents have visited twice since I began school and have stayed at the Boulder University Inn both times and plan to continue using it as their go-to place to stay when they visit in the future. I would highly recommend to anyone that they look into the Boulder University Inn before deciding where to stay when visiting Boulder. You will not be disappointed!

Very nice and knowledgeable staff, and very thorough cleaning crew. Looking at the other reviews it must have been a very recent renovation as there was no complaints in any of our party on their rooms or bathrooms (hot water heaven for those of us who have smaller water heaters lol). However, if you are security conscious, the windows would not pass any sort of inspection. They are very light and could very easily be shimmied open. They are most certainly not burglar proof. Over all it was a very nice motel for the cost, and wish we could have stayed longer to have ridden on the courtesy bicycles!

Well, it may be $31 cheaper per night than the hotel I turned down to stay at it, but that $31 wasn't worth it. The air conditioning is broken either entirely or partially in two rooms they put me in. The entire hotel could be described as "clean but run-down." If the extra $31 is worth it to you, go for it, but be prepared to pay the consequences - and this is Boulder, so it's still $109/night (I paid less for a Marriott in San Jose).
