First off I would like to say, the staff and the grounds are top notch! The thing that keeps this hotel from being four stars, as it was purported to be, is the fact that there is no air conditioning. No air conditioning would probably not have been a big deal had we been on a lower floor. But being as how we were on the highest floor, the third floor, it was quite warm. We left the window open all night, but as we were on the side of the hotel closest to the freeway it was quite noisy. They did however bring me a box fan when I requested a fan on the second day so they were very accommodating. And it was more comfortable. So my advise, don't stay on the freeway side of the hotel.

I've planned events here before and it's so accommodating. After having a recent extensive remodel the lobby is looking great, the food is great even for events, service is perfect, the golf course makes you really feel in the middle of beautiful Monterey. I stayed at one of their suites and these are super spacious, great beds, could improve the decor but it works for the area. Also, the Marilyn Monroe Spa is brand new and totally worth checking out.

Not worth the money. The rooms are old and need a remodel. The walls are really thin and so you can hear your neighbors gettin it on loudly in the next room while you try to sleep.

Awesome hotel, like really awesome. I really have nothing bad to say about this place and I would stay here again. If I have to be critical of this hotel for in this review, I would say that I feel the parking situation could be improved. During my stay I believe there was a military related gathering and the parking was pretty bad. However, the room was clean as can be, well organized and write large. The bed was comfy and the hotel has great curtains to keep the sun out if you are a late sleeper like my myself. The staff was very sincere and helpful and the bar which is adjacent to the check in desk looked amazing although I didn't get a chance to sample a drink. Absolutely recommend this hotel!

I got a discounted price to stay here but I think I would go elsewhere if I visited Monterey again. It seems they listened to the complaints about no AC, as there was a portable AC in my room which provided a nice atmosphere. My biggest compliant was...no HDTV. Really Hyatt? 42 inch plasma and no friggen HD? I couldn't even watch TV because of the crappy quality of it. After a nice long day of exploring the city, coming back to your hotel at 10pm and watching some TV is great. But..couldn't do it. Anyway. 3/5 stars. The staff was nice and whatnot, but, as the other reviewers stated as well, a $22 "resort" fee is stupid. I wouldn't stay here again in Monterey.

it was too hot,no air conditioning and there was a sign saying " open sliding door to let the Monterey breezy weather cool you down", so i tried doing it but that was even worse considering the fact that the hotel is right next to freeway so it was to loud. For almost $ 300.00 a night I expected more,at least a freaking air conditioning.

NOT CHILD-FRIENDLY. Our room came only with a shower (half open, no door, I don't get it) and no tub, and the bathroom door is a sliding one that doesn't even lock. No other standard-for-motel amenities like free wifi or a microwave. Sprinkler heads are caked with dust, carpets, furniture, and common areas are filthy, and like everyone else says, it is terribly overpriced. There are many many alternatives within two miles of this place. The good things about it are that it is easy to get out of (traffic light) and there is plenty of parking.
