RIght I have the nub of a Doctor Who Time War game (high concept history is the battle ground, reality is the victory), a Blake's 7 morally grey anti hero adventure set in the later years of Blake's rebellion dealing with those wonderful firefly/BSG/B7 type questions of terrorist or freedom fighter. A Planescape D&D extravaganza where little street rats rise up to be landed persons of interest in the City of Doors (thin Dodger with magic missiles and a Venetian city council). Any or all of these can be run when we hit #Edinburgh. +Sarah Tolmie is my agent and performs all interviews and tryouts ;)

X-posted belatedly from FB:

I'll be having a ponder, but would definitely like to start running something again too. In the first instance, I'd suggest a floating-market style OoC social/gathering, which would be a thinly disguised excuse for us to meet more people, get to know some gamer-friendly pubs / lure gamers towards craft & real-ale places, and talk local myths & urban legends, for I'm pondering something set in Edinburgh in a loosely dresden files / rivers of london / felix castor / neverwhere sort of vein...

Gamer folks - Can I just take a moment to recommend Obsidian Portal. It it free to use (there is a premium version which isn't much and helps the guys run the company) and it has become incredibly useful for our Gossamer & Shadows game.  Whether it is keeping track of characters, artifacts, maps it has become a really useful tool.

Between the worlds are doors, doors which lead to endless worlds. Between each door is the endless staircase that stretches to the heavens and down into a labyrinth of nightmares and shadows. There are those who travel between these doors, by design, by mistake. They walk in the infinite as seekers and wanderers, each strangers in a strange land. This is the story of their journey into a multiverse of endless mystery.

I'm a big fan of style tiles over mockups in terms of getting the UX aesthetic over before you dive into mockups

http://alistapart.com/article/style-tiles-and-how-they-work
How do you involve your client in a successful design process? Many of our processes date back to print design and advertising. It’s time we evolved our deliverables to make clients a more active participant in the process. The style tile is a design deliverable that references website interface elements through font, color, and style collections delivered alongside a site map, wireframes, and other user experience artifacts. Learn how style tile...

Here's a tip UX matters to you and your company. If anyone says they work in UX get an understanding of what they know - there are a lot of flim flams in the wind right now. What would be best is a background in psychology or web front end design, retooled BA's or PM's can manage it as well. What you really need to know when talking to UX experts is a backstory into the processes, tools and methodologies. Ask how many of these books they have read or authors they have heard of - the authors are leading lights in the field. For goodness sake ready Jessie Garrett's Elements of UX yourself - it explains the scope and functionality in a way your own mental models will understand.

Core Reading:
The Elements of User Experience – Jesse James Garrett
The UX Book – Rex Hartson

Research Techniques:
Card Sorting – Donna Spencer
Interviewing Users – Steve Portigal
Mental Models – Indi Young
Storytelling for the User Experience – Whitney Quesenbery

IA and Patterns
A Practical Guide to Information Architecture – Donna Spencer
Mobile User Experience – Adrian Mendoza
